Amazon Prime 1-Day kinda a scam

So at my work, we use Amazon a lot, we probably buy 1-10 items a day and I personally use Amazon now for 70% of my shopping. I noticed that when you buy something using Prime (2 day) it never, and I mean never ships out the same day you order it. Unless you order it with one day shipping. However it ships out the next day and arrives on time, in 2 days. If your a bit confused, let's say you order an item on Monday for 2 day delivery, it won't ship out until Tuesday and arrive one day later on Wednesday. But when I check the packages shipping speed, it always says UPS ground (not 2nd day air or next day air) and it always shows it was shipped from somewhere close by to were I live. Which means if they shipped it out on Monday, it would always arrive the next day, hence making 1 day shipping meaningless. They could even change the Prime speed to 3 days and always wait 2 days to ship every item, giving them better profit for 2 and 1 day shipping, because they can still ship everything via UPS ground.

Just something I noticed recently about Amazon, I hope they don't start skimping on there service/support/price advantage. I am huge Amazon fan but i don't like that they could offer faster service/shipping at no additional cost to them or me.

When you order they're one of a select few merchants who tell you when it will arrive vs the shipping time.  I'm OK with this if "one day" is really a rush processing service.  I would like it much better than Newegg where every time I use rush processing it takes an extra day for my stuff to ship and the shipping time starts then not based on when the order was completed.

For example I recently had two orders one from Newegg one from Amazon.  I have a newegg preferred account that offers free rush processing and I have prime.  Both orders were completed around 10am on Wednesday with 2 day shipping selected (I have a Newegg Premier account aka their version of Prime so 3 day is free 1/2 day are discounted).  The Amazon order arrived Friday and the Newegg order arrived Monday as it shipped out  MUCH later.

Well look at it this way, if you select 2 day it means 2 days delivery not 2 days shipping, 2 days includes order processing and packaging. I don't know if you've ever worked in a warehouse but they pretty much run full out regardless so to get somethingo ut same day you have to bump something else, hence extra $$ for one day shipping.

I don't see how figuring they "could" make a service worse is a reason to call BS on them, I don't think they could possibly process all of their prime orders same day and guarantee they could get them all out on time. Think about it from a business perspective and not a gimme it now perspective.

This.

2 days includes shipping AND handling. Amazon Prime rocks and is worth every damn penny many times over.

If you want next-day shipping you pay the extra cost. That's my order getting bumped and not getting delivered early every time someone pays for the privilege.

What's interesting is sometimes on Amazon if you want to save money with shipping multiple items 1 day. Order one or two items with next shipping and everything else regular. Sometimes they combine everything in one box and ship them all 1 day. Which is cool on Amazon's part. However, I think Amazon will need a 1 day advantage with the new tax polices that put them on level ground with the brick and mortar stores.

This..although who really needs stuff in 1 day...plan ahead.

For $100/year for free streaming, free 2 day delivery (which for me in PA is usually 1 day, unlike you OP :haha: ), as well as some ohter seldom used perks, you can't beat it! And because my wife is a shopaholic we don't pay $100, but $80 I think!

Right.

Although some of the post was off topic, talking about how much I love Prime, the comment about usually receiving my Prime shipping in 1 day is directly related to your post.

Care to reread the 10th post?

And anyway, what business won't make some extra cash if they can? Wait, let me answer that...a business that won't be around very long.

I think most people see 2 day free shipping as a perk, unlike you that seems to think, if they can do better they should, for free!
