Getting the old beast patched up, just replaced the fuel pump, sandblasting and repainting the frame while I have the bed off, might finish the exhaust while it's apart too (it's so much faster with the smaller tires and the bed missing haha)

oh and, under the hood

Yup, it's a 4-banger

I was going to say your slant 6 is missing a couple cylinders  :teehee:

Motor is out of a 1994 Dodge Shadow actually haha, gutless little thing but it runs like a top when the electrical isn't eating itself

That's the weirdest damn motor I ever saw, and why from a Shadow?

Truck was a factory 4-cyl, the Shadow motor is a long story starting with my buddy taking the truck out in the woods up north camping, catching a stump with the lower radiator hose, overheating it and cracking the head, got a junkyard head from an Acclaim, turns out a car in a junkyard had a different hood on it, go figure

So we ended up putting a 2.2l head on a 2.5l block, oops, shorter deck meant we smashed all the valves out of it in about 6 months, one of the broken valves ended up tearing up the cylinder walls, and well, it's much easier to find these 2.5l K-motors in cars and minivans than in the Dakota's, so we found a 94 Shadow with 44.k on the clock that'd been rear ended and pulled the motor from that, getting a V6 or V8 would have meant getting a new trans, and well, finding a manual trans for a V8 Dakota in the junkyard is more of a bastard than finding a 4-banger in a Dakota haha, so it stayed a 4-banger

Updates on the daily...

Before:

After:

1" spacers (yes, I know, spacers) on each corner. 2" wider track, better steering feel, and looks better IMO. I did it primarily for the looks but I do like that the manual steering feels a lot nicer now (translate that to it gives a lot more feedback to the wheel).

EDIT: Damn, I can't get around to repainting the car fast enough. It looks like poop.
