  1. The price is almost the same for Ivy Bridge and Haswell. Around $20 difference. Yes around 550 watt is good. But maybe adding another 7970 later. Oh btw, there are no 600 Watt in Japan. They only offers 550, 750 and 1000 in kakaku.com. Unless you want to pay an overpriced shit from Yamada Denki (Japan Largest Electronics Retail Shop)
  2. Purpose: Multimedia This includes Video Rendering, 3D Graphic Stimulation. She is a PhD. Another hidden purpose: Gaming For her son. Well... I personally do not think it is expensive though... It is for work, not personal use. I think the build is OKAY but if you think you have a better idea. Please state the parts. (I think changing XXX to XXX is much better choice) Well... in Japan, computers are extremely expensive and for the price of 200k Yen you could only get a higher mid-end laptop. 20 years of deflation and a few months of inflation, huh.
  3. She has a son... So just a decent graphic card for her son. I am thinking of Adobe RGB supported monitors. Dual
  4. Update: Thanks everyone, I had ordered the parts. My friend (PhD) wanted to buy a computer for her work. (Because it is for work, she does not want any handicap or failure) Purpose: Multimedia Budget: 250,000 Yen (2541 USD) (Hidden Purpose: An All-Round PC, even gaming, for her son) Note that most parts are more expensive in Japan due to tax and shipping outside Japan. And Yen is so weak now... My mistake for not stating the purpose clearly. It is for Video Rendering, Science 3D Stimulation. Graphic Rendering and Physics Stimulation is the point here. She has a son and she wants only one computer in the living room. So the beast graphic card is a complement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CPU : Intel i7 4770 - 32770 Yen CPU Cooler : Corsair H100i - 12428 Yen Motherboard : Asus Z87-A - 18970 Yen RAM : Corsair 1600 8GHz x2 [DDR3 PC3-12800 8GB] - 13357 Yen Graphic Card : GIGABYTE 7970C [PCIExp 3GB] - 44426 Yen HDD : Western Digital [4TB SATA600 7200] - 26798 Yen Case : Zalman Z11 Plus Case - 5220 Yen Case Fan : Zalman F4 - 1980 Yen Monitor : GW2450HM x 2 - 33020 Power Supply : Super Flower 750W 80Plus Platinum -750P14PE - 12544 Yen Extra : Asus Blu-Ray DD BW-12B1ST - 10000 Yen Total : 211241 Yen (2244USD) Just see if I miss anything and everything is compatible. before I order them. A quality build, I think, without having to break the bank. A blu-ray to burn discs. I am thinking of normal DVD optical drive though. 2 8GB RAM for now and upgrade later. I choose 7960C because it is not for gaming cheaper and could upgrade for crossfire later. I think the build is OKAY but if you think you have a better idea. Please state the parts. I am now in Tokyo. And yes, I can make it to Akihabara by bike. However, Japan version of Newegg, Kakaku.com offers lowest price from thousands of sellers and most of them also offers free shipping.
  6. Hi guys, firstly I want to thanks OverclockersClub because of friendly community that helped me since 2010 whenever I have troubles on new builds. I am accepted into Pure Information Technology Engineering in Japan (AKA Computer Science). My school starts in April, located at north of Japan, Hokkaido with an average temperature of -5
  7. Well, this question has been in my mind for a few years while I really never had a chance to ask it. Moreover, I can't find a solution on the net too, so I will be asking here. The title seems misdirecting. Well, there ARE really a lot of GTX680 around. GTX680-DC2T-2GD5 [PCIExp 2GB], ELSA GeForce GTX 680 4GB [PCIExp 4GB], WinFast GTX680 4GB GDDR5 [PCIExp 4GB], GTX680-DC2O-2GD5 [PCIExp 2GB] GF PGTX680/2GD5 [PCIExp 2GB], ELSA GeForce GTX 680 [PCIExp 2GB], Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 4GB [PCIExp 4GB], GTX680-2GD5 [PCIExp 2GB] Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom [PCIExp 2GB], GF-GTX680-E2GHD [PCIExp 2GB], GF PGTX680-OC/2GD5 DUAL FAN [PCIExp 2GB], WinFast GTX680 2GB GDDR5 [PCIExp 2GB] Gainward GeForce GTX 680 2GB [PCIExp 2GB], Inno3D Geforce GTX 680 4GB [PCIExp 4GB], ASUS's Direct CU II and so on... Well, there are a few things we need to consider when doing SLI GTX680. The memory. There are 2GB and 4GB types. However, today let's just talk that I will only buy 4GB card. Same Nvidia Card, but sold under different brand?! Question #1: Why there are so many types of GTX680 4GB? Aren't they all same? In my own opinion, their price differs because of the cooling components like the heatsinks and fans' quality. Question #2: In the situation of I am gonna do a water cooling and will be buying a water cooling board for GTX680. Should I get the cheapest GTX680 4GB around and ripped the cooling components off to fit my water cooling board on it? Or, should I buy the most expensive GTX680 4GB with imba cooling components and still rip them off, putting them in the storage in my backyard which I will probably not touch them for the rest of my life, maybe my son's curiosity will let him to. I mean seriously, I am doing a water cooling on GTX680 4GB, living aside the cooling components, are the cheapest GTX680 4GB around is same as the most expensive GTX680 4GB around? Bonus Question: Just out of curiosity. If I am doing a 2560×1600. SLI GTX680. Is 2 GTX680 2GB enough? Or a demonic 2 GTX680 4GB worth it?
  8. Ah, yeah, you are right! If the RAD > CPU > RAD > GPU, the tubings would be long and complex! Thanks guys. You all solved my problems.
  9. Ok, let's change how I ask. If you were me with two radiators as setup, what loop will you use? If you were me~~
  10. Hello guys, I really wanted to buy XSPC RX360 but too bad the whole country of mine doesn't sell any water cooling parts. But recently there's a new shop opened in my state, its about 20km away and he offered EK Supreme HF 240 EN kit. Yes, the whole country of mine, the WHOLE MALAYSIA only has 6 EK water cooling kits for sale (2 in my state, 4 in another). He seemed pro and guess what, he sell a lot of water cooling parts and the only 3 stores in the whole .*** country. However, what he offered is very high end products like HF Full Cooper, Black Ice 360, Swiftech Pump (USD 120 that one) and his barbs fittings cost $15 each. F-I-F-T-E-E-N each. I had my ideal water cooling parts however, too bad it goes up to $450. Oh well, now he got a EK Supreme HF240 EN and I had decided to buy it. I hoped he got 360 but too bad, only 240. So, I am gonna get an extra Black Ice 360 to feed my computer's need. This is the loop sequence he recommended: CPU: i7 950 - Planned to go up for 4.2GHz, 5.0GHz if possible. GPU: GTX580 - Planned to go up for 900MHz, 1GHz if possible. Double Radiator: EK- 240 & Black Ice 360 PUMP > EK240 > BI360 > CPU > GPU > RES Triple Radiator: EK240 & 2 Black Ice 360 PUMP> EK240 > BI360 > BI360 > CPU > GPU > RES Well... My opinion is different. Double Radiators: PUMP > EK240 > CPU > BI360 > GPU > RES Triple Radiators: PUMP > BI360 > CPU > EK 240 > BI360 > GPU > RES Reason: I think in 4.2GHz, CPU already run much cooler than GPU. Correct me if I am wrong. I heard there's double loop. Does double loops means I have to buy an extra pump + extra reservoir? Loop 1: Pump > EK240 > CPU > Res Loop 2: Pump > BI360 > GPU > Res PS: Not going to SLI 580 because I will be selling it off soon and I will get myself a damn GTX 690 in 2012. Second reason for not going to SLI: Damn it my motherboard is P6T SE which does not support SLI!!! Its brother P6T (Just $20 more) supports SLI. I didn't notice it until last month... Question: 1. Which loop you recommend? (If you were me) 2. Double Radiators or Triple Radiators? (Even Quadruple Radiators EK240 + 3 BI360)
  11. That's cool! The pictures showed up. ;-) Mm, I know what are you trying to saying about the wooden shroud. Hmm, will try to make a hole after I get a radiator. BTW, I am having trouble choosing between Cooler Master Gold 1000W and Cooler Master Hybird 1050W. Gold is at around $220 and Hybird is around $240. The price included tax and there's 10% discount if I buy it before next weekend. :-D Thanks for telling me that I have an option of just cutting the case. That saves money.
  12. Wow, you are like Mother Teresa in my computer world. I would really be interested in seeing those schematics. I had done some intensive research on water cooling and know what is water blocks, reservoirs, radiators and such. What I am gonna say is... water cooling is COOL! I love those colorful coolants and those super beautiful reservoirs. I am willing to spend about USD$700 on these upgrades. My considered upgrades are: 1. A new casing, will drop down if I can get a cut on my current casing. 2. Water cooling kits with custom loops, reservoirs and liquid cooling parts bought separately. Any recommendation? I do not really order outside country because these products always lost in posting. 3. 1000W Gold Power Supply. Because I will want to have one more Hard Drive, HHD, to save money, maybe 2TB, my 3.5TB is finishing up... I dunno how can I use 3.0TB in a year... Oh yeah, maybe for pumps too. 4. Not gonna buy a new graphic card. Erm... I am okay and really happy on my current graphic card. Maybe try overclocking it to 1GHz. BTW, would love to make those water cooling cool up my GPU too! I heard RAM can be overclocked, mine is 12GB at 1333MHz. Don't them already overkill? Do I need to overclock that... My country's posting service really... sucks. I had bought a few parts like USD500 and all of them gone into the sea. So I usually go to the computer stores and ask them for these parts, however, they do not usually carry these brands. I just asked my friend (he was a schoolmate together back in 2009), he will try to ask for the RASA kits. I will tomorrow go to the computer enthusiasts' stores nearby my house. (There is only 1 in the WHOLE state, the state I mean here is Penang Island) I will see if I can find some parts. I will ask questions about overclocking after I get my water cooling done. I saw someone goes 4.8GHz at 1.32V with a i5! http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154161 Holy cow... mine is i7 and hes a i5. This is unfair, why i5 can run at a lower voltage at higher clockrate? I am crying. Haha, just kidding, I hope mine can run 24/7 stable at 4.2GHz with 1.35V. (Preferably below 55 degree Celcius) If possible... 24/7 with 4.5GHz at V lower than 1.4V, I saw some successful stories on the net, dunno if they are true or not. I trust only OverclockersClub. Woohoo! For your information, I do not really know how to overclock. My last 3.3GHz Overclock is done by a friend and he is already in England now. Going BIOS and everything... I will try learn more after I get those wonderful water cooling parts.
  13. Really that bad? >.< okok, custom water loop for a 120mm rad... =.=...... I really dunno anything about water cooling, but, i think it is like installing something that fit onto your cpu, two loops are connected to cpu, one goes to rad, another one... to gpu? =.=... What is the best water cooling kit around? Rasa Kit? If it really is, I will really change the whole casing for that.
  14. Thanks for replying. I was kinda busy these days and maybe for the next few days. I am having the final exam of the pre-university courses starting tomorrow morning. There's still some hours and I am quite confident of it and wanna reply. Haha, I got your info. 1. Get 750W Power Supply. 2. Get NH-D14, I know it is ugly but it seems like it is the coolest cpu cooler around! 3. Overclock my CPU to 4.2GHz! (Biggest project) I will get a laptop at Japan, my friend told me that Japan produces their own unique laptop but they are not sold outside Japan, they are about the same spec as alienware but with a much lower price. I will consider about changing the whole casing and get a water cooling device like Rasa Kit, wow, its reviews state that it is outstanding product, just 2X the price of NH-D14... I will deal more about these things after my exam, haha. Ya, I really had passed the exam for the university, this exam is just like... having some fun? >.< So teach me more about overclocking after exam, it will be 1 Dec 2011 then. ;-)
