  1. If you would find the time, I'd like to see a better picture of the green circled zone in the picture below. If you could find a position to shoot the markings of the black square chip it would be great. I want to be sure what voltage controller is installed on the card before buying it. In other words, the fellows at Tweaktown have another look at the Palit Sonic Platinum, but they have ONLY 1 physical picture (of the fan mounted on the card) They used the Afterburner 1.6.1 to OC the card too, including the voltage. I'm a bit skeptical about the voltagemod because I cannot find anything on the web about Afterburner supporting NCP5395, it's stated only that the program supports the NCP5388. If you can throw an eye to the both pictures, you can see that they use the same PCB layout and the same SMD components: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/palit_gtx460_sonic_platinum/images/10.htm http://www.xbitlabs.com/misc/picture/?src=/images/video/gainward-gf-gtx460-glh/gw460_back.jpg&1=1 The only difference between the two videocards that I can identify is the white text "APCB M3", written near the "no Pb" sign close to the start of the PCI express connector on the Palit card. You're maybe right about the SMD/chip components of the GTX460 family (Palit simple GTX460 /Palit SONIC GTX460 /Palit SONIC PLATINUM GTX460/ GAINWARD GTX460/ GAINWARD GS GTX460 and GAINWARD GLH GTX460) , as the cheaper ones can have less components/mosfets/capacitors for the voltage supply mounted on the front of the PCB,but I cannot believe that Palit or Gainward would change the Voltage controller on the same design of a board.
  3. Hello people ! I was waiting for an answer about the Voltage controller chip on this card but, in meantime, I found it elsewhere. The controller on the Palit/Gainward short PCB GTX460 cards is the NCP5395T as posted in this review: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/nvidia-geforce-gtx-460_5.html . For now, I'll look into the soft voltmod thing for this chip. Thx again.
  4. Hello ! I have some questions about the Palit GTX460 card . I cannot identify in the pictures of the review the voltage controller chip of the card. I'm interested in this because where I live, the Palit cards are among the cheapest, over 30 euros cheaper than the others. I want to Voltmod the GTX460 via Software (Msi afterburner/Rivaturner) and I don't know if it's possible. I've read on a chinese reviews site (google translated, but it was backed with pictures of the card ) that Palit and Gainward (they are the same company) short lenght PCB cards have NCP 5395 as voltage controller. This chip is different from the one used in the original Nvidia design, the NCP5388. So, to enlighten meand, maybe others, I see that you used the Afterburner 1.6.1 to overclock the card, and the voltage bar was functional. Did you enabled the voltage option through the options/.inf/.ini files of the Afterburner ? It was functional from the start ? Can you check the back of the Palit card and write here the markings on the NCP chip (it's located in line with the Pci express power connector in the middle of the card, square size) please ? Thanx alot for the review. Waiting for other reviews like this one, and please try overclocking with and without voltage mods, it can say lots of things about a design, even if it comes down to each unique sample/card.
