Tablet shopping is making me crazy

i've decided to go study up and get my MCSA using Server 2012, and will be doing much studying while i'm out on the road in my truck. Ive been looking hard for the right tool for the job, to help me get on with it, keep my studies up to date, and facilitate and store my pre-testing results, so i can stay focused on program. The right thing seems to me to be a decent tablet with wifi connectivity, and some decent onboard memory and usb support, bigger size and resolution so my old eyes can see what i'm reading and typing, and a decent (quick, quad core) processor because i'm impatient, and may be using the thing for other things.

Ive been shopping around all day and been bombed by so many choices and options that i don't even know which way to go anymore, or even if a tablet is the right answer. I've been looking in the price range of around $150 to $300 dollars and don't really want to invest more than that, if i don't have to, but i'd like to have some power and speed and size if possible too...

it would sure help me to have some experience and insight as what's the best choice for this kind of usage, and the most modern equipment for what i'm looking to accomplish.

any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated and given careful consideration.

Thanx OCC,

CJ

well if you going to do a lot of typing and work u dont want a tablet really

have u seen those windows 8 YOGA notebooks? they are basically laptops with foldaway keyboards

just so you know, transferring files to and from an ipad is a pita

you can't just plug an ipad in and transfer files like you would a digital camera or android phone

I think you need to figure out what program you want to use first

a large smart phone might be best

i was wondering if a tablet is the right thing, for that very reason, but simpler and cheaper is part of my shopping goal so that's how i came up with the tablet idea. Now I'm feeling a little embarrassed to admit that I've never owned a laptop or a tablet in my life, but personally i would never own or buy an apple ipad or apple anything, unless it was a free gift, now I'm reminded why. i have my S4 with me constantly on the road, and my verizon mifi, but the S4 is way to small for this. So it sounds like i ought to let go of the tablet idea and start looking for a cheap, reliable, laptop of some size, for my needs.

after switching gears and looking at some laptops, i came up with this: de-branded HP

that DELL is a YOGA rip-off

lmfao

yeah, that amd A8 is great

I bought 2 HP A-series laptops for family members

here is a YOGA tablet that has good reviews

remember, you may want smaller and lighter, then a tablet makes sense

they make little plastic folding bluetooth keyboards you can buy

but if you have a backpack wtih you, a light laptop is good

they make backpacks specifically for laptops now with the zipper on the side which are convenient

If you are thinking about a tablet, I would recommend this:

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TF300T-B2-BL-10-1-Inch-32GB-Tablet/dp/B0080MW8O6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1414605117&sr=8-3&keywords=asus+transformer+t300

I purchased this unit about 4mo ago to use for DJing instead of dragging my desktop around and its excellent. Performance is solid, battery life is good, and removable keyboard is very well built.

+1, if I EVER got a tablet it'd be an ASUS Transformer, though I'd go for the TF700T

If you could afford to go for a little more...

I'd go for the ASUS T100, you'll have full Windows, so you don't have to survive off of Android apps and such.

I have one I use for school. I like the size and I like that the keyboard is detachable. It's been great on trips as the battery life is INSANE. Was perfect for the London flight earlier this year. :)

Not sure if this is an issue for you or not but if you read the "fine print" the OS isn't included.

Maybe you could consider a netbook if size is an issue, although you could probably find a laptop around the same price that is faster.
