  1. Ok a little about me. I install home theaters for a living and have a passion for building computers. So I know the ins and outs of DTS-HD. I just can't get it to work from my htpc. The reason why it matters is because I want to sell my blu-ray player. Ok the home theater is a Onkyo HTS-6200 it's not incredable but on a $500 budget it can't be beat. It will decode DTS-HD. I know so it works with my blu-ray player. Computer hardware on the brand new system. 95 watt Quad core phenom with 6 megs l3 cash clocked at 2.8 don't have model. 8 gigs of ddr 3. Gigabit micro atx am3 board with sata 6 gb and usb 3.0 there is only one out there with these specs. I have 2 sata 2x250 gb barracudas set up as raid 0. Have a asus blu-ray drive. The new fanless zotac nvidia gt 430 with hdmi it supports dts-hd. The software is the powerdvd 10 mark 2 or what ever, it passes dts-hd. I have downloaded the newest nvidia drives with the HD audio driver version 266.xx. I have the powerdvd and audio settings in windows set to output sound undecoded so my receiver can do it's thing. All I get id dts. Can anyone shed some light? I have tried 2 movies one was the new Resadent Evil. The other was Easy A both have DTS-HD and I set it up in the blu-ray menu.
  2. Ok I just built a new media center pc and it does everything I need it to do. I have a 22 inch samsung monitor and the main display is my 50 lg plasma. I go into windows and set up the 50 as the main monitor and set it as my desk top. The second one the 22 inch samsung I set to extend desk top to this monitor and just use it to throw a movie on if I am gaming so I can watch a movie and play games. I have the dvi going to the 22 and hdmi going to the 50 there is a surround sound receiver between the computer and the tv. Bypassing the reciever is not an option because the graphics card I bought is designed to pass dolby true hd and dts master audio to the receiver its the new nvidia gt 430. Plus I have tried without the reciever and still have the same problem. The problem is when I shut everything down say at the end of the night the next day when I turn it back one everything powers on I get a no signal message on the 50 inch lg. I never turn the computer off over night because I won't be able to turn it back on with my remote so I think the computer is more of a stand by mode instead of a true power down. I think this info may help determin a solution to my problem. To get the lg to recieve the signal again I have to reboot the pc.
  3. Ok so last night I was doing everyones favorite thing with a computer started to download then went to watched a movie. Came back to a blue screen (irq_not_less_or_equal) restarted hoping it was random. When it restarted windows was corrupt booted from window disk worked fine ran repair restarted no luck. Reformated and reinstalled after rebuilding my raid 0 makes through install of windows all windows updates and all drivers updates then on restart windows is gone. Booted same deal now trying on single harddrive. Just want to know am I on the right path is it sounding like a bad hard drive?
  4. I have an X-FI Plat. Sound card. The only way I can get the mic input on the 5.25 drive to work is if I go to widows audio mixer and enable playback what I hear the problem with this is when I do this it sends the mic 2 port and game sound aswell as vent clicks and noises through the speakers and vent. There is supposed to be an option that will let you enable mic 2 input under advanced tab in windows audio options (from what I have seen on google) voice record advanced, but the advanced tab is grayed out. Does anyone know a fix for this? I do believe it worked with the original out of the box drivers but they give me a blue screen when I install them on XP SP 3.
  5. I have a BFG Tech 9600 GT with the spdif input and an Asus P5N32E-SLI board with a spdif output header. The header has a pin configuration of . .. (.=connector) the last connector is ground the middle is signal and the first is a 5v. lead. I have the nvidia spdif cable going to the last 2 pins black cable I am assuming is ground white is signal lead. From there I go DVI to HDMI I get picture from my 40 inch LCD but no sound. Before some one says DVI doesn't carry sound I have done much research on this and found newer graphics cards will actually push sound through the adapter to the HDMI. Well I am about 98% sure that the connections themself are correct and in theory should work I think that my problem is in the software set up but in my audio options I can't find anyware to enable the spdif connection. I checked my device manager and all the drivers appear to be installed no red x's or yellow caution signs. I would relly like to get this working because my next step is an audio reciever with HDMI for my system.
  6. Ok I have been playing around with my comp for a few hours and am about to pull my hair out. I have an Asus P5N32-E SLI mother board paired with 2x BFG 9600GT OC graphics cards. I get 10000 or so in 3DMARK06 without sli I get 15000 or so marks with sli enabled seems about right. I noticed the other day one of my cards registered hotter than the other so I decide to see if I have a hot spot in my case or if the card is actually running hotter, or both. I decide to move the cards around first I tried to run them both in the main slot and get the same results one is hotter then the other, but I still want to try the cards in the other slot both are full 16x slots per the manual. I plug both cards in the 2nd slot and both of them run at 640x480 at 4 bit color I removed drivers restarted and it would run standard windows resolution 800x600,1024x768, etc and 16 or 32 bit color. I reload the drivers restart same deal 640x480 at 4 bit color. Download and try more drivers same result. If you are running with one card will it only work in the main slot, or should it work the same in both slots because they are both 16x? I have downloaded the manual and it doesn't specify. Could bios settings cause this and if so witch ones? If there is a problem with the slot does it sound like it is affecting my sli preformance? I have no visual issues and am gaining about 50% preformance based on 3d mark scores. I also ran the pcie bus stress test in the nvidia ntune control panel and it passed. One last thing I also noticed was in the hardware manager with the single card in slot 2 it said no conflicts working properly, but it wouldn't let me change resolutions wouldn't let me change off of 4 bit color wouldn't let me in nview control panel. I was also thinking it may be the drivers it self because with my 8600 and the same board I had no problem running a card in the 2nd slot but I no longer have these to try.If it sounds like hardware that sucks but It sounds more like a software issue to me especially with the cards being so new.
  7. I like the ocz reaper memory with cas 3 its fast. But if you really want to over clock look for a board that supports faster ram than 6400.
  8. Go to a car audio store and get a few sheets of dynomat it works great in computer cases. Use wire ties to mount the fan and coushin it with rubber washers.
  9. Ok tried the higher voltages but no go I am happy with the real world preformance of the comp I was just trying to do better on bench marks so i will just leave it be.
  10. Ok I have a asus P5N32-SLI mobo. My proc is a C2D E6750,and OCZ Reaper cas 3-4-4-15 and 2.4v is my ram. If I use those timings I can get the chip to 3.2 gigs with a Vcore of 1.3 and my temps are 35 idle and 45-47 under load. System temp stays around 32-33. I know I have about 10 more degrees I can play with if I want to take the chip higher but If I go past 3.2 my system will not post even if I drop the timings to 5-5-5-15 or 5-5-5-18 and a v-core of 1.4-1.45. I have read that this board is not a good overclocker I would think it can do more than 3.2. I was thinking atleast 3.4. I was one of the first people to get this model of ram that could do cas 3 so I was wondering if the ram was holding me back cause there is not much info on newegg, or is the board at its max?
  11. If the heat sink is doing what its supposed to (pulling heat from the chip) it will be hotter than the chip. I wouldn't worry about it.
  12. I have set up a basic wireless set up with a linksys router and comcast cable internet I don't care about file sharing or anything fancy just using it as a wireless gateway for the most part. I am connected and the xp machines are doing great. The vista machines say they are getting connection to the router as well and also showing they have the internet. I can't get them to show anything. I did notice that on the XP machines they are showing standard TCIP and on the vista machines I see they have something called TCIPv4 and it is seeing the internet but then I see something called TCPv6 limited. I am not a vista user but I think the problem is the TCIPv6 can it just simply be removed or is there a fix?
  13. I know I can add a second card and get the dual monitor with out canceling sli. I was having issues with artifacts in the game not trying to run dual monitors in sli. I don't have enough slots to run the third card. so thats why I just toggle out of sli.
