  1. Yeah oddly enough, Ive found the majority of them won't ship to NZ. Which is weird, because we're just over there. Oh well, found FrozenCPU.com, looks like thats me. Cheers team :-)
  2. Yeah good point - thread title updated :-) Any ideas on online shops that will ship to New Zealand? Im finding the selection at enthusiast shops and local e-tailers fairly useless...
  3. I did have an 8cm fan on the back exhausting, and it actually raised the cpu temps by about 2-3c - Im thinking that it may not have been able to exhaust as fast as the cpu cooler, creating some kind of turbulence? Who knows... My air-physics isn't as good as it used to be :-) Maybe 2 x 8cm at the front and 1 decent 8cm at the back? Any recommended models? Running a GA-EP45-UD3LR - no crossfire for me, but Im cool with that :-)
  4. Im looking to throw some case fans at my machine, right now Im not running any, so theres some obvious room for improvement. I made up my master plan in Paint, because both MSPaint, and myself are awesome :-) Basically, any recommendations on 12cm and 8cm fans are appreciated, good noise / cfm ratio, any recommendations of what to make my awesome ducting out of (right now Im thinking cereal boxes, so anything smarter considered), and any opinions welcome - the grand scheme is to make my ASUS cooler more efficient, as my E5200 runs at around 60c full load at 3.66Ghz.
  5. Thats pretty sweet - cheers for the heads up, Ill download that tonight :-)
  6. I did try that - uninstalled the whole ATI suite and downloaded the latest 64-bit Catalysts and no joy. It seems that the CCC Overclock carry-on is much like the Intel Speedstep thing - sticks at a low speed until a load comes along - it's definately working though - 3d Mark Vantage always showed an improvement as i ramped up the settings. Im pretty sure that the issues will be a 64-bit / Windows 7 thing. No fuss though, it's ok for the time being, and Ill probably look at a 4870 1GB card in the not too distant future :-)
  7. Yeah, I figured that one out pretty quick, played the Crysis demo (for the first time ever - man it's sweet :-) ) and got about half an hour into it before the whole screen descended into a blur of multi-coloured triangles of fun. Now got the GPU running at 750 and the vram hovering around 1000 - all seems sweet. I tried AMDGpuTool, and Im not sure if it's just Win7-64, but every time I adjusted the numbers and hit apply, they would just default back. I tried Rivatuner, and something equally as funky happened, so Ill just stick with the CCC Overdrive for the time being. Also took out the case fan that was sitting just between the CPU cooler and the back of the case (mostly because it was so freaking noisy), and now the chip idles at 36c. Easy:-) Ill have a play over the weekend and see if I can crack 4Ghz. Its good to be back :-)
  8. Has anyone used these? http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?item=FANCLM0420 I cant find the actual product page on CoolerMaster's website, nor can I find any reviews on it. Also, any suggestion on good 80mm case fans appreciated.
  9. So I recently picked up a GigaByte GA-EP45-UD3LR and an ASUS Lion Square cooler, so decided to see what my E5200 would do (keep in mind this is my first overclocking attempt since back when I had an Athlon 1800XP doing 2.2Ghz). Ran out of day to keep pushing, but ended up with 3.66Ghz (11 x 333) @ 1.25V, 44c idle, 55c max load. Also decided my 512MB ATI 3850 needed a push, and got it to 770Mhz core and 1117Mhz Mem (up from 668/828). Only reason I didn't go any higher is that is as far as the sliders in the ATI Catalyst Control Centre go. Gonna get AMD GPU Clock Tool and Riva Tuner tonight and see how far it goes. 46% CPU and 15% / 34% GPU overclock isn't too bad for a days work. Haven't had a chance to do a full Prime95 on it, but ran 10 minute tests to make sure there were no obvious errors happening. Anything else I should be trying to get more out of my components?
  10. I just bought... A Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR A Western Digital 500Gb Black Edition Drive and an ASUS Lion Square cooler. Because it was dirt cheap :-)
  11. Yeah, thats pretty much where Im at - I work at a compnay thats been selling the ASUS board for ages, and we've just started getting the Gigabytes in, and they're better than I thought. What I forgot to mention is that Im thinking about dual booting OSX (not that I actually need it for anything, more just to see how to get it working), and Ive heard that the UD3L works better in the application than the P5Q Pro. Also, to N.E.A., I was looking at the UD3R, but apparently we can't get them in anymore - the closest we can source is the UD3LR, and that's not got heatpipes (at least from what I can see on Gigabytes website), and I dont need RAID, so that ones probably not the board for me. I think my mind is made up - it's gonna be the Gigabyte, mostly because it's so much cheaper than the P5Q Pro. Thanks for the opinions :-)
  12. Hey All, Im gonna go buy a new mobo at some stage this week (my horrible, horrible P5KPL-C is inally getting retired), and Ive narrowed my chioce down to two boards - a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L or an ASUS P5Q Pro. Ive got a E5200 M0, and wont be using Crossfire, but will be playing games and playing around with overclocking - what do you guys reckon would be the better board? Cheers :-)
