Vary sweet to have desktop graphics on your laptop,.. the connector is apparently some combination of USB and PCIe,.. would be great if you could Mod this port into any old Laptop to run GTX980 while at home,.. :fp:

yeah this tech been around for a while. I've seen thunderbolt and usb 3.0 versions of it. Now dell finally decided that they can sell the idea to the masses lol. Honestly using a thunderbolt port is enough vs some secret "pcie/usb" port.

Also that laptop in the demo has a 860M in it! thats enough for mostly any game at 1080p.

People have been doing this for a couple of years now, but Alienware is probably making sure the "Amplifier" is configured to only work with their Alienware laptops.

It's a proprietary interconnect. :(

This is retarded lol, you could just build a miniITX gaming machine the same size or close enough to it and then a cheaper/laptop and tablet for that specific purpose  (especially considering that laptop is guaranteed to be over $1000)

ViDock makes is where you can buy ones that aren't proprietory:

However, they're very expensive. You can build your own DIY version for maybe $45 or less, as long as you don't have to buy another PSU. If anyone's interested, I can try to make a guide on this.
