GabrielT Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Depends I guess, are you maxing out your memory already? I can't see there being any gain unless you are currently running out of memory. Generally speaking you will get more performance out of you quad channel set up than just adding more and sacrificing quad channel. Shaggy04 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I am running 12GB of memory on my PC and it's more then sufficient enough to play anything and everything, except for maybe Witcher 3. That game on high gpu settings looks to be a demanding game. Also, keep in mind, that it's not always the amount of memory you have. Low Cas latency also improves performance. If you explained what you normally do like play games or work that it would be easier to say if the 16 extra is a good idea besides the quad channel thing. I use 64gb all the time making large images so I can relate to needing more. Well going from quad to dual won't affect programing much but maybe 3d work when you render stuff out.
