i7 2600K on ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z OC Issue

Recommended Posts

To be honest I was able to check the speed difference between 4.85Ghz & 5Ghz on my system and there is like 1 or 2% of improvement. Not worth destroying my chip.

This!

5 is just a mark. Its nice to see you understood this part. :)

My chip is running cold at this actual speed so I might just change my fans on the H100 for 4 of those bad boys : http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27970

And I'll probably change my TIM for that insane thing : http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15255/thr-135/MAINGEAR_Epic_T1000_Engineered_Thermal_Interface_ETI_Kit_for_Core_i5_LGA_1155_1156_-_2_Pack.html?tl=g8c127s1605

It's gonna be even better (hurray for great cooling)

I would say get scythe gentle typhoon fans over the ones you link and also you do realize you need to literally burn that TIM in? Which means running the temps up really high til the TIM flows.

And Stoner, as for 3 different reviews I've read on the Maingear T-1000 TIM, there was no cure time at all for them. I don't see why there should have one for me.

I didn't say cure I said burn in. The application process requires letting it heat up to a point where it flows.

Edit: just did a quick search and it appears 98C is the reflow temp.

i would either get these fans or the 1850rpm gentle typhoons.

these are slower speed and quieter, but due to their extra thickness and steeper fan pitch they have great static pressure, perfect for rads
