  1. My resolution is going to be set to 1080x5760, three monitors in eyefinity. So if the card I have is ~ to the R380, would a crossfire of something else boost my performance? The R380s seem to be in my price range, but curious if a crossfire would boost a little more for a little less. I've also read some articles that crossfiring helps when running eyefinity, so may end up working in my favor doing that.
  2. So it seems that trying to run eyefinity on some or my more heavy games is finally putting some visible strain on my current graphics card, so now I'm looking to upgrade. A while ago I looked into simply getting a second 6950 and crossfiring, but since mine has been flashed, and at the time, the AMD drivers didn't handle it too well, it didn't really work, so a little longer down the road, I'm looking into doing it again. I don't game as much as I use to, but still enjoy a good fight in B3 and 4, Wolfenstein, modding skyrim, and other various indie games on steam so I'd be looking for soemthing that still has some umpf, but I can't break the bank, nor do I really need a 700$ graphics card. Since the rest of my build (listed below) is AMD, I figured sticking with AMD graphics would be best. The debate mainly has been crossfiring two R7s, the one's I've found are 360s (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127888) or getting one R9 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202059) Biggest concern is if AMD had updated their drivers to make crossfiring worth it or not?
  3. Well, the last option is a GSkill : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231709&cm_re=F3-1866C10D-16GRSL-_-20-231-709-_-Product But I can't tell if it would be compatible. They don't have a test on their website.
  4. So I'm looking into upgrading my laptop memory. I found these: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/lenovo-y50-70-touch/CT5959245 - Crucial says this is compatible http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls2k8g3n18aes4 - Crucial says the 16g kit is not, but any other size is. I chatted with one of their technicians and they said they couldn't find a reason except the ballistix may not have tested well. They both look similar, but the Ballistix has a lower CL and is cheaper. So the question is, is there a reason I shouldn't get the Ballistix series? Thanks for any insight.
  5. So it's been a while since I've posted here, but I had hopefully a quick question. I have a HD Radeon Reference 6950 flashed to a 6970. I'm looking to possibly crossfire it with a second. Should I get another 6950 or 6970 or something else entirely?
  6. Yea, new things for PCs come out quick. I remember when I got my 6950, it wasn't a month later before they had the 7000 series coming out. Granted, the equivalent was 400$ more... By the looks of it I may just stick with what I got till I run it into the dirt or it can't keep up. By then, hopefully crossfire will be fixed and I can do that to linger on a little longer before upgrading to probably the 9000 series by then.
  7. Man, I didn't realize crossfire, well, sucked... I guess I'll hold off then and either wait for the 8000 series or until crossfire gets better. Does SLI have the same problems?
  8. I know other models can be flashed, but the reference card has a full waterblock which I like and I'd like to have a second. Part of this whole thing is also experimenting with crossfiring. Since I've never done it before, I'd like to give it a shot. Regardless, the single 69(7)0 is enough to do what I'm currently doing, so this upgrade is more for fun than necessity. All in all, absolute limit would be around 400$ including waterblocks, and I don't really want to spend that. 300 would be more comfortable. In response to hornybluecow, I am finding a few 6950s that are unlockable for 100-200 on ebay, but I'm a little hesitant on the "universal" waterblocks for those styles. Anyone have any experience with those waterblocks? Also taking note, what's fishy about crossfiring with the current drivers?
  9. I currently have a single HD Radeon 6950 flashed to a 6970 and am looking to possibly get another and crossfire. The other option is to upgrade the card and crossfire in the 7000 series. As of right now the latter is looking more favorable especially since it's almost impossible to find a reference 6950. I've found some on Amazon, but they're used and I don't want to spend that much on something used. I also plan on liquid cooling both of them so I need to find blocks as well. Any suggestion on whether I should find another 6950 or upgrade to 7000 series?
  10. After reviews and opinions, gotta say, I changed my choice to a Razer keyboard, that was until I started looking at prices... I also found a G510 on sale and ended up getting it for 40$ and so far I'm loving it. With the money I saved, I also got a RAT7 mouse. All in all, I'm happy with my setup and it's much better than the 20$ wireless combo I was using. Thanks for all the advice!
  11. I'm looking for a keyboard with a backlight so I can see at night as well as look cool, and I want programmable keys. I've seen a couple with LCD screens, and that would be a nice touch, though not a necessity. I've been looking at the Logitech G510 for a while now. I love all the features it comes with, but I've heard enough complaints about the spacebar not working well. Also been told it doesn't have a usb port which would be kind of nice to have. I've read somewhere about having a soundcard pass-through, not really sure what it's talking about so if someone could explain that, that would be awesome. All in all, anyone have experience with this keyboard, or would suggest something else?

    New Case

I'm looking more at the Silverstone ps02 or ps06. Anyone have thoughts?

    New Case

Looking for a gaming tower, something small, supports liquid cooling, and quiet. Customize-ability is the biggest plus. I've heard Lian li and Silverstone are higher end and good on customization. Any thoughts?
  14. So I built myself an HTPC and as I type, it's currently updating and installing drivers, etc. I have a question about networking. The idea that I have is to keep all my media on my main computer for organization and the easy ability to add or remove files. The ability to transfer my files over my wireless network is there, but instead of using up bandwidth which my family is a tad frustrated about, is it possible to simply stream media via an ethernet cable from one computer to a simple switch, then to another? Of do I need to get a router of some sort?
