  1. ii) I'm actually really interested in what you did with yours! If I could get a nice design in the front, I might be able to pull it off. (If only the fans were higher! They'd make perfect skull eyes) Do you mind if I do something similar to yours? iii) I've already bought a new reservoir with Green led. Using Green Led fans would be cool, but would the performance drop be worth it? a) Use Green Led Fans b) Mod the gentle typhoons and place insert green leds in them? (This would definitely void the warranty, but would it damage the fan?)
  2. Wow, I really like what you did with the front 2x 80mms! I was thinking of cutting one 140mm (120mm) slot and use that instead of 2 x 80mms. Hahaa, I've already most of the holes, 2 x 120mm top, some cable management holes etc. (Used the parts to measure, just havent uploaded the pictures just yet). I'm going to go with a green internal lightings. PSU fan has been modded (removed the blue for green leds), got a green cable like led. I understand what you mean about cutting it though. The quality and feeling of the case is really amazing, especially when compared to my old NZXT Guardian 921! Right now I'm stuck with 3 major problems. i) primer ii) front fans design iii) Should I use green led fans for the radiator? I'm currently using Gentle Typhoons. Any advice? Thanks mate
  3. Hey thanks. Just got back from college and am having some time off to work on the project. Need some advice from you guys. Its almost impossible to find etching primer in Singapore and Malaysia! I went to 13 paint shops and they dont have etching primer. In the end I manage to find this "Nexa Autocolor P565-13483" The thing is, this is in liquid form. Is there anyway for me to spray paint it? The interior colour I've decided on is 'Sparkling Black' and the exterior will remain Brushed aluminum. edit: Would this work? http://www.amazon.com/Green-Billet-Aluminum-Reusable-Spray/dp/B002D3WXMU
  4. Hi guys, I'm doing a case mod. Case: Lianli PC-70 Aluminium Full Tower Colour Scheme : Internal Black + Green Lighitngs : External : Haven't decided. The Brush Aluminium finish looks nice but I think it might look better if its black. What do you guys suggest? Paint: Was thinking of Powdercoating, would come up to 200sgd but two additional problems, the person doing it said that the finish won't be great and doesn't recommend powdercoating the exterior. Also, the case fits perfectly and I've heard that powdercoating adds thickness which would affect the fitting. Should I just spray paint the internal black? I've done mods on steel cases but not on aluminium, any painting guide for aluminium? Lightings : Decided to go with NuclearTec El Cable (http://s.lowyat.net/uploads//attach-91/post-17891-1174581357.jpg). I could add another LED tube if its not bright enough. Case design: i) Am planning to cut the top panel for my radiator. (Should I do 4x120? Planning on upgrading the rad later on down the road and would it be better to just cut the holes for the rad now?) (also, if I cut the extra holes now, what should I use to cover it up?) ii) This case has 2x 80 mm fans infront, am planning to change it to 1x 140mm, what do you guys think? I will have to drill some holes for the intake though. (There are 4 slots for 80mm fans at the back of the case) iii) Power Up button, am planning to change it to something nicer. Two ideas I have right now are a) Ignition key (like how you start a car) b) A military switch (flick it up or down to turn on/off) Really appreciate any advice, thanks everyone.

Guys, a quick one, can GEIL 2GB DDR-3 MEMORY GVP34GB1333C9DC work with the Gigabyte P55-UD3? It is not in Gigabyte's compatible list.

Hey guys, got the psu and gpu. Now for the mobo. Found a Gigabyte P55-UD3 for 90aud, used for 2-3 months. Should be good right? Even has usb3.0 and sata6. Only prob is, it doesnt support SLI. From reviews, it seems to be a good board for ocing on air.

Scared of blowing the PSU . But meh, will be meeting the seller on monday for the 8800gt, hope it will last. My system is back in Tasmania and I cant do any test to check the card. , PSU should be reaching by friday latest. (TPII 480w), Should I change the caps in it? Its probably 4-5 years old?

Awesome, according to that site: 90% load : Min 307w Recommended 357w 100%load : Min: 341w Recommended 391w Mobo: Regular Desktop CPU: i5- 650 RAM: 4x ddr3 GPU: 8800GT 512MB HDD: 2x Highspeed SATA 1x DVD Drive Fans: 3x 120LED USB: 5x CPU :100% tdp Incidentally the 8800 Ultra is 53W higher than the GT, (makes the recommended a 444w PSU) This means the ToughPower II 480w should be sufficient right? (Although, it is pretty old, the caps should be fine? Anyway to test this?)

Hey mate, thanks, Regarding the GFX, I'm now left with a 8800Ultra and 8800gt 512mb. The 8600 has been sold. Right now am more worried about the PSU, I'll prolly sell off the 8800Ultra and use the 8800gt, however the corsair site states that a 450w psu is sufficient for the 8800ultra. Is the ultra that much better than the gt? And which PSU calculator would be the most accurate?

How about if I went with a 8800gt 512mb instead? That means I'd need a 700w psu for the system? The seller is willing to hook it up to his PSU tester and take a photo to show the voltages, would that be a sufficient test? Edit: Just did a test on Corsair's site. Intel i5 oced 8800ultra 2 hdd only needed a 450-550w psu. And thats with a 20% headroom. Should I follow Corsair's site?

Thanks guys, I found an Antec TruePower II 480W Blue for 40aud including post. Would this be sufficient? Review sites rate this quite highly! (The psu is a couple of years old and out of warranty, but I think Antec and Corsair psu last for ages right?) Edit: after checking antec's website, I'd need atleast 600w? -1x mobo -2x 7200hdd -5x fans -1x 8800ultra -5x usb -4x ram -1x dvd-drive is this true or would the 480w be sufficient? I've put extra fans and usb to be on the safe side.

Alright mate, I'll try to look out for a secondhand drive before buying it off pccg. (Still have about 2 weeks to build the system so no rush.)

For the HDD, I'll be taking dihartnell's advice and get a Samsung Spinpoint F3. But just out of curiosity, is there any difference between the 500gb and 1tb model other than the size. The 500 gb model is about 42 bucks and the 1tb is 59 excluding shipping and brandnew.

Thanks mate, I'll get the 8800GT for 50 bucks .
