Which is one of the very good additions to SB-E.

Theoretically 3820 can go to 5.5GHz with gear ratio 1.66 which is equivalent to 55-56x multiplier & thus making it virtually unlocked processor.

Am I wrong here? :dunno:

Yep wrong  The amount of chips that can use the 166 gear ratio are usually about as common as chickens teeth.

Well the multiplier is locked, you can only really overclock by increasing the gear ratio, right?

No, you can still use bclock in addition to the gear ratio. For instance 108 x41 = 4428Mhz while 127 x 41 = 5207Mhz The multi lock still has an effect on overall top speed.

Ok. Had no idea about that. Thanks for clarifying my wrong concept. :)
