  1. thats what i thought, looks like i'm making a quick run to tiger direct!
  2. So I just bought abbout $1600 in parts for my new rig and listened to my friend(who thinks he knows everything)siad it would work. I am trying to use my semi-old 600W 20-pin psu. I'm not getting a POST beep but everything is powering up. later on he says "my brother's mb will run with 20 pin in a 24 pin port, but I loooked up your board online and it won't" so will the asus a8n32-sli run with a 20-pin psu or no?
  3. So the Asus A8N32-Sli has been on my purchase list for a week now and I belive I have subscribed to every single web page's "back in stock alert". Does anyone have an idea of when the stores will get shipments in? Guess the good side to this is I will end up paying less as the prices have already dropped $20-45. Saw $200 on pchotline.com
  4. so many choices....i guess the limiting factor is money at this point. $500 or less would be my target so i'm thinking the x1800xt pe is going to be out of the question as its going to be WAY overpriced. guess the 7800gtx is the solution.
  5. thanks for the input. guess i'll go with the 7800gtx, that way i can compare ati to nvidia since i have only had experiance with ati.
  6. Well for the last 6 years i have been putting my computers together i have been a huge fan of ATI for their nice drivers. I am however in need of building a new rig in the next week or 2. I am thinking of going SLI as the new Crossfire technology is not looking too promising at this point and the x1800xl and xt are overpriced for the bang. Looking to get an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB, Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PRO 2GB Kit, AMD 64 4000+ , combined with my existing water cooling setup, and some high-end graphics card. My question is would it be more worth it to get 2 6800GT OC's in SLI mode ($600) or get one 7800GTX OC ($500)? *** I don't know if this matters but I would be using the system mostly for movies/editing, multi-tasking and games.
  7. those are some good idea's. I don't think the signal is comming from someone elses computer b/c i've been in here about 4 times a day for the last 3 days and its always here. i'll give that net stumbler a try. Thanks for the info!
  8. So i'm sitting here in the school library(small community college) and they tell me there are NO wireless signals anywhere on campus. However my laptop gets a very good signal from inside the library. My program says I am connected but i can not access AIM or Firefox or any internet at all through this signal. My best guess is this signal is for administrators only and is locked by a password or IP range of some sort. I was told today by a person in another one of my classes to try a fisher program(idk how to spell it, just how it sounds) but a quick search on yahoo isn't returning any results. Any ideas on programs to use to hack in or bypass any passwords needed?
  9. 4000+ is significantly cheaper then the X2 anyways
  10. I am planning on overclocking the hell out of this rig but I also do lots of multitasking(movies and music) and would love to have the 2Mb L2 cashe. But just how much dose it help? I am planning on dropping lots of money into this thing but I don't think i'm going to go over $500 or so for a processor. In all actuality i'm trying to keep it under $1100
  11. does anyone have any idea as to when the crossfire products are being released? hell, even the m2 boards?
  12. Well my AMD 2400+XP isn't really cutting it anymore and I'm looking into a complete upgrade. i was thinking of: AMD64 4400+ X2 (the 939 of course) the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D atleast one gig of a good ram (I already have a gig+ from current comp.) one WD Raptor 36.7GB (for the O/S) another 160GB SATA in RAID 1 with my currtent SATA anATI x850 XT (prob platinum edition) and get a new DangerDen RBX water block (to upgrade my current cooling system) the question I have is will it be worth it to wait for ATI's crossfire technology to come out or just buy this setup? My current rig(minus the GPU water block and a stick of RAM)http://www.overclockersclub.com/gallery/?act=case&id=687
