The Gaza War of 2008 (also known as operation Cast Lead) resulted in between 1,166-1,417 Palestinian and 13 Israeli deaths (4 from friendly fire). Or perhaps you'd believe the UN who headed a special investigation in 2009 by Goldstone which resulted in a report accusing both Palestinian militants and IDF forces of war crimes and possible crimes against humanity. Of course with a slip of the hand the Israeli government criticized said findings which resulted in Goldstone stating he no longer believed IDF intentionally targeted civilians in Gaza. The other authors of the report, Hina Jilani, Christine Chinkin and Desmond Travers, rejected Goldstone's reassessment.

I'm not exactly sure what that has to do with the current attacks. If you're trying to make the argument that Israel kills more Palestinians than they kill Israelis, well duh, Israel's military is arguably the best in the world. If you're truly pro-Palestine, but happy Israel hasn't wiped them off the map, because believe me, they're more than capable. The thing is, Israel doesn't want that - they've been more than willing to have peace. It's the PLO and crap terrorist organizations like Hamas that won't rest until Israel is no more.

That. +1

Also, having spent 3 months on an army base in Be'er Sheva, working with soldiers, and having family friends who have served in the IDF and are currently serving, I can also +1 that they're possibly the strongest military in the world. Also, having armed soldiers walking around (whether they're guarding something or just walking around the mall shopping) makes the threat response possibly the best in the world. So, another +1 for the military comment.

Wasn't going to reply to this thread but after some of the pro Israel comments and anti Muslim comments I feel I must.

The state of Irsael was only voted into existence so that an American president could get the American Jewish vote.

Besides all the statements that isreal existance be wiped off the face of the earth.

I always thought that the requests for isreal to give up land that wasn't a single continous piece, but three specific pieces that essentially surrounded and locked isreal was off . Who in their right mind thinks, give me the most important stuff and you take the rest, is a comprimise?

I hope everyone understands WW3 is on the way. This may seem like the same ole thing but its not. If you string it together with other events over the last year or so, I see something big coming. Syria, Iran, Egypt have all had some destabilizing events and/or threatening comments toward other countries. Couple all the that with our own internal problems and the re-election of a globalist/socialist. I think we are heading for dark times.

I would rather see WW3 honestly than a civil ware here which is also becoming a frightening possibility but something not good is on the horizon. I get that feeling.

Sorry to be macabre but that's my opinion.

Nice biased source you got there.

Hold on, let me use Huffington Post to support my liberal argument.

That's not a biased source, it's just a timeline of events stating what happened, when it happened, and exactly how it happened.

See the key to this not being biased is when the quotations end and after is a citation statement "says Volunteers for Israel, a charity that connects Israel and the USA."

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and say you religiously follow Fox News, which wouldn't really surprise me.

Seems like the majority of people are muslims in Gaza, why not let em have it?

Better yet, why does anyone have to "have it". Just make it an international territory. The muslims can do what they want because the land is now part theirs, and same with the jews and everyone else.

Or heck, why not give it to china as a non biased party. They have the military to control it, they honestly could care less about people's religion as long as they don't show it in public.

What ever happens though, the absolute worst thing you could do in this situation is give it to any particular group in the middle east. That would cause so much upset that it would be the start of WW3.

Not true, Israel has said the Palestinians can have Gaza, so as far as giving it to them it won't change anything. The problem is that Palestinians, and all the radical Muslims want Israel wiped off the map. They won't be satisfied with any amount of land.

Now giving it to Israel could conceivably start another war, but as Israel is happy to give it up that should not be a problem.
