  1. Definately, I've bulit lots of systems and every mobo came with all the necessary hardware, ie cables, standoffs, screws, etc.
  2. If you are new to building comps and bought a SATA HD, When you load Windows and it doesn't see your hard drive, you need to press F6 and load the SATA controller drivers either built in to the motherboard or a PCI, from a diskette.
  3. There's two things I believe are contributing factors. #1 DFI mobo #2 Nvidia chipset Try getting a BIOS update from DFI as Nvidia will have nothing to do with you. They only make the chipsets they say and everything else, it up to the maker of the board. (Previous experience helping friend).
  4. Pressing F6 is for installing the SATA Controller, not the drive its self, having the drivers for the drive on the disk when loading third party drivers when installing windows is useless.
  5. If your MOBO doesn't have a SATA (Serial AT Attatchment) interface, dont worry, if you want, for about $30-75 you can pick up a PCI (Periphreal Component Interface, which is an external BUS form) SATA Adapter card, it plugs right into a PCI slot and from that you can plug in a SATA hard drive or any other SATA device to come out in the near future, like DVD burners, or the likes. If you're installing a brand new copy of Windows, and it doesn't see your hard drive, simply press the F key it tells you to for loading Third party SCSI drivers, then put in a 3 1/2 disk with the SATA controller card drivers on it and Voila, SATA. Hope that helps, and if you need any more info on SATA technology, just pm me and I will be more than glad to help.
  6. Set both jumpers to "Cable Select" or "CS" , make sure your IDE cable is in the slot correctly, if it isn't keyed, the red stripe is pin#1, and make sure it's in all the way. If it's a newer computer, an I'm assuming it is, then that should work, if not just kick it a few times.
  7. Dust it off with a micro-fiber cloth, then use a soft brush to get in the crevasses, if any fingerprints or spots remain (ie dog pee, food, water, mud, it all depends on where you put your computer) then use an ammonia-free multi-surface cleaner. Spray the Micro-fiber cloth with the cleaner unitl it is just damp, but not dripping wet, you don't want too much, barely damp is fine, use the damp cloth to lightly and swiftly buff away the spots. This works for any external computer surface. Or, if it's a macintosh, just take it outside and rinse it off with a sledge hammer.
  8. Ahh the cutting edge of technology. How far we have progressed. I bet the prophets of times past saw visions of glowing turds but nobody believed them.
  9. I saw a light-up keyboard at, umm where was it... isellsurplus.com, that's it I think it was like 30 bucks. check it out glad I could help
  10. For a game server, go with an AMD opteron for best performance. It's a 64 bit server processor. I have a feeling microsoft isn't going to come out with a 64 bit version of Windows until Intel is ready to put their POS on the market. I guess they feel threatened (and thay should) by AMD since AMD is CLEARLY the better processor.
  11. I did some research on the prices, and came up with a fair value of just under $6500 This is truly a dream machine. $4000 is an underestimate, you are forgetting the quality parts going into this machine aren't bottom-dollar basement deals. Take, for example the 4 sticks of 2gig ram, the socket 939 mobo, and the FX55, processor, which is amd's best on the market, the monitor is a big name, the cooler costs about 300 bucks, microsoft kb and mouse, and that "fair" price I added up doesn't include tax, or shipping, assuming a not for profit organization bought all these parts and put this comp together. Retail, would probably sell for $8500-9000. just my .02
  12. Great mobo for the price, I'm not a fan of nvidia chipsets though, I went the 754 route, but the only downside i see is no dual channel support. I'd consider a socet 939 unless you already have a 754 processor. just my .02 hope it was helpful
