upgraded to 4K

HDMI will never go away for about 10years

because video games use it and stereo equipment

also, I looked at this SEIKI TV, is it really 4k quality? because a real 4k TV is very expensive.

I think there may be more to a 4k TV other than just a resolution number.

It's a 4k screen. What else matters?

Yup, it is pretty good quality, the same if not better then my IPS panels. But it's not as good as say a high end samsung TV. But for $700 I would say its well worth every dollar. Also look at my screenshot in my first post, that's true 4K on the SEIKI TV.

Well, samsung makes most of the LCD panels in the world

and they sell their TV for 8000$

so now, let's think about this realistically, which one sounds like it will have issues?

a used car that costs 8000$ or a used car that costs 750$.

I think seiki is just glue'ing a bunch of smaller panels together, maybe lol

that is how plasma screens work

Plasma screens work by exiciting tiny pockets of gas (Xenon and Neon) turning them into a plasma state.

In that state, the electrons of that gas emits ultraviolet light which is not visible to the human eye, the ultravoilet light is then absorbed and re-emitted into the visible spectrum of light by the phosphor inside each cell. Each pixel consistes of 3 sub pixels, one red, one blue and one green. Plasma screens are all made of 2 sheets of glass with zenon and neon gases stored between the sheets, the exact same process is used for 40" up to 270" screens.

The process does not necessitate any glue'ing of smaller panels together.

WoW, you people know absolutely nothing about plasma screens?

I am talking about SIZE, length, panels

did I say the sun shoots magnetic beams down at your plazma screen to create color in 3 x 3 pixels?

let me ask you this, do you even know why a plasma screen has a 480hz refresh rate?

if you knew the answer to this you would know plasma screens are glued together

black 64 is obviously one of those people who goes to best buy and, wow! 640hz refresh rate! that's more than my new LCD

Since you missed the point in how Plasma refresh rates are divided into panels you probably still dont understand what I am saying so let me clarify

basically, I think the saeki TV is doing something like EYE-finity, the video scaler is not actually displaying 4k, but maybe 6X 1080, etc.

where as the 8,000$ TV is actually doing the 4k

or maybe its using iphone LCD panels that are uncut

Even though the post count does not lie, coming back to the forums after being gone for a bit, I'm sensing a troll of some sort. Maybe I've just not been around enough to sense the actual tone?

Potato, I am surprised by your incompetence, why don't you take a break from OCC and go learn a little about how TVs work before posting ridiculous statements. Your making yourself look like an idiot. :slap:

Sorry you lost me somewhere,.. I have no clue what you are talking about.

Panasonic PDP's have the plasma cells divided into 8 sections called "sub-fields".

Each sub-field is refreshed at 60Hz, therefore, 8 sub-fields times 60Hz equals a 480Hz sub-field refresh rate, which does not mean anything to the picture quality.
