  1. wow, thanks for this giveaway. Amazing !!! Lots of great prizes !!!
  2. Depends on which tablet you get. Some tablets have pretty good compatibility with Ubuntu! Most of the threads are at the XDA forums. Though Grabbing a cheap old laptop might be better in most cases.
  3. It doesn't actually wipe out the Stock android OS, but it's more like a multiboot system. If you have the Ubuntu image on your SD card, insert the SD card, and then it should automatically boot to the SD (ubuntu) , or remove the SD,and it will boot to Android. The installation procedure varies from tablet to tablet, and the Ubuntu/linux based image varies from tablet to tablet. But usually the process is something like Downloading the OS image from the the developer's site, and then Writing the Image to the SD card using a program like Win32 Disk Manager or something. If a developer has compiled a custom Ubuntu image for the tablet, then it's simple. It should have most of the drivers or something pre-installed.
  4. I do use it once in a while on my mobile. Can't get used to it. But i like the artsy and creative pictures that people post on there. Like old novel covers etc.
  5. Yes, they can be run as a base operating system. On a number of Phones like the Galaxy Note as well. I myself got the Gooseberry Board, which is basically a tablet pull out board, and it's running android. It's supposed to be running Ubuntu, but there is no official support even my ARCHLinux, because there is some issues with booting the image up. It doesn't always boot upp
  6. Damn that is indeed scary !.. Yes i wouldn't use it as a gaming PC as yet. I Would wait a while, and let them work out the bugs before i use it on my gaming PC, much like how i did with Windows Vista. Used XP all the way, until SP1 of Windows 7.
  7. I tottal agree, the best deals. The Gigabyte Cards are usually the top performers.
  8. I heard that the life is less compared to traditional drives. But there is no problem with dropping the drives down, since there are no moving parts inside it. It's just Flash chips on a board. --- Atleast the game loading time is better. Check the FPS with fraps or something
  9. I don't think they're dying. I still prefer my desktop for running photoshop, games, etc, and i use my mobile or laptop for daily web browsing. It doesn't make much sense to use my 600W system to browse light stuff when i can use my Mobile, or my 20W laptop. Most of the people who love laptops can't build a system of their own, or find it more expensive, or they have a lower spec'd system. So they prefer to use their laptop. That's what i think. As for the gamer's well each platform has their own fanatics, and always will. I mean a PC gamer would prefer playing a game on a 24" lcd rather than a 15-17" Laptop screen
  10. Well, if you're going to SLI, and you've got the cash, might as well get dual 670's. You're going to be upgrading to LGA2011, which is quite an extreme series so you'll get max performance out of these. The 660ti is 192-bit based, while the 670 is 256-bit. In most of the single card tests the 660ti's scores were close to the scores of the 670, but when they were SLi'd the 670's scored comparatively higher than what the dual 660ti's had scored. As for the PsyX, i don't think you'll need the Physix since most of the games these days don't really utilize Pysix. And the Pysix of your 660ti or 670 will be better than the 520 ! Check out this website for a more in-depth comparison of the 660ti and 670 Good Luck!
  11. Velcro, superglue the other side of the vecro to the case and the other to light ? or use Silicon, which you can melt down if you wanna remove it later.
  12. http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-AWUS036H-Upgraded-Wireless-Long-Rang/dp/B000QYGNKQ For long range, otherwise go for any USB adapter by Netgear or TP-Link:)
  13. Have you tried playing any games with it? or running Applications like Photoshop etc? Thanks for your feedback, i was thinking of getting an SSD too.. But if it's just noticeable with boot up, then i won't go for it
  14. TP-LINK WR1043ND is my favorite. By the way, if you don't wanna forward ports, and only run one system for gaming, or something then activate DMZ, and point it your system's IP
  15. I think you'll have better luck with CentOS ! Especially since many dedicated servers rely on CentOS as well
