Problem with windows 7 64-bit & 6GB of memory

I,m having a similar problem. I have windows 7 and 4GB of DDR3 installed and windows is showing only 2.99GB available. So I researched a little and I found that I needed to update my BIOS. Which I did (MSI P55 - GD65) from v1.3 to v1.7. And windows is still showing 2.99GB available. I don't Know if it might help you, but It wouldn't hurt to try. Sorry windows 7 64 bit. -
OK I found The answer I was looking for in this forum Seagate website

Hi guys, just a quick question. I just bought a 1TB seagate 7200.12 and i want to know if I can clone this new hard with my old IDE hard drive? I'm using the disk wizard from seagate and the manual describes IDE instructions. Can a IDE to SATA configuration still work is the my Question? Thanks for any replys.

yes I agree. I might overclock later but for now I just want to get it up and running. Thanks for all the help.

Thank you. I will

Thanks for the replies. sorry for the delay took the family to universal studios. My case is not determined but mid size for sure because of price. I don't want to spend over 100 for a case. I wont be doing any overclocking with my CPU. I'm really just trying to find one that will fit my MOBO for under $50. This is the first time I bought a AM3 socket CPU. Does a cooler that fits a AM2 still fit a AM3? That's kinda were I'm stuck.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a cooler for my AMD X3 720. I can't seem to find one that I like. ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD Phenom II X3 720

Thank you I'm really going to think about AMD. I'll research some more. Thanks for the help

i just noticed that mobo supports AM2. Can I still use that AM3 chipset (phenom II X2)?

Yes those choices are very good choices. I didn't see much of a difference in performance. The prices are dramatically different, but now I'm changing CPU's and I've heard so many good things about Intel cpu's. Could you please tell me a little more about these products besides the great price. Can I overclock the AMD? What the does the black edition mean? Is it overclocked already? Doesn't the Intel consume less power, 65W?

So you think 125Mhz of core speed more will make a difference? Fore about $40 more. I don't know. HD4850

Thanks for the replys. It's good to know I made some good choices

Well it's just a upgrade for now. My son plays far cry 2 on his old PC and it starts to freeze up after about 20 mins. I think his card is a Nvidia 7600 I believe. He still has a CRT monitor but will upgrade to a 20" LCD in the near future. The PC is about 10 yrs old. We need an upgraded PC anyways, so I figured this new PC would be a good start.
