  1. thanks for the feed back. I thought the 280 might be a bit of a over kill for a physicsx card. For the gain I would get from it. Think I will sell the 280 and put the money toward h20 cooling.
  2. I recently replaced my gtx280 with a gtx480. Was wondering if it is worth running the 280 as a dedecated physicsx card.
  3. Hi all, Need some help. Trying to find some fans for a cpu cooler. what I am after is 140mm fans that are black with red blades.
  4. Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has dismantled this fan. I have 2 in push/pull config on cpu cooler. they are fantastic fans but very ugle. Want to dismantle and paint if this is possible. Have seen vid for dismantling p12. Can remove magnet but fun blade does not want to move. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Hi all. I'm after some help in picking out a socket 1366 motherboard for a 980x build. will be overclocking. the cpu cooler that is going in is a coolermaster venemous x black edition and the case is a coolermaster haf x, so e-atx no problems any feed back would be apreciated. So far I've looked at Asus Rampage III Extreme EVGA X58 Classified3 Motherboard 141-GT-E770-KR Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Motherboard Rev2
  6. Need help with qx9650 OC. Using a ausus striker ii formula mobo and have hit a brick wall at 4 GHz. these are my settings. FSB: 1333 MEM: 800 Multiplier 12 MEM timing 5,5,5,15,22 corsair dominator 1066 4GHZ 2X2GHZ @ 2.1v EDB, VT, EIST all disabled CPU v1.375 PLL 1.6 VTT 1.4 NB 1.58 SB 1.6 1.2V HT auto Bridge core auto CPU GTL_REF +50mV NB GTL_REF +30mV Cpu cooler coolermaster venemous x black 120mm fans in push/pull config Prime95 stable @ 4GHz , temps 58C under load small FFT
  7. In bios have you got EIST ( enhanced intel speedstep tech) disabled. If this is enabled, disable it because it will throttle the cpu according to the work load. I'm running the same motherboard as you, and I found that you get a more stable overclock if you disable everything in extreme tweaker- overclocking section of the bios, ( leave cpu cores enabled). As for your temps you are nearing the limit. I would not push the cpu past 70 C under load. Stay 30 C + from tjuction max and you should be fairly safe with your overclock.
  8. Thanks for the help this site and your idea of dropping the multiplier worked. Now have a stable oc at 3.4GHz. Prime95 small 61C (142F) 8 hour run ambient temp 21C(70F) Multiplier x8 FSB: 1700 MEM 850
  9. What sort of cpu cooler are you using and what are your temps under load. You can run either coretemp or real temp for temp reading and prime95 small FFt's to stress cpu. What have you got your vcore set at.
  10. Coolermaster hafx 1000w ps Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066 2x2gig, was running 4x2 but I read on another forum to try taking two out until you get a stable overclock and then put them back in. 5,5,5,15,22 at 2.1v running at 850 (FSB:DRAM 13:16) cpu cooler is a zelman 7500 gpu evga gtx480 superclocked and xfx280 xxx edition dedicated physicsx q6600 G0
  11. Temps under load are 45C prime 95. For cooling I'm running a zelman 7500.
  12. Need help with a Q6600 overclock Mobo is a Striker II Formula. Can not seem to break the 3.19MHz barrier (1422) Multiplier x9 vcore 1.39
  13. The HAF X has 1 x 230mm(front), 2 x 200mm(top & side), provision for another 200mm fan on top and 1 x 140mm rear. Also a 120mm fan for op vga duct.
  14. I like the NF-P14's. Would be good for rear out take fan (140mm), and for vga air duct because it will fit 120mm mount, but there is also 200mm and 230mm fans on the hafx which Noctua don't make in these sizes.
  15. Did not say that the hafx fans are and issue. Was just wondering if you would get any better and/or quiter proformance from swapping the original fans.
