rieds Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 i had a q9450 installed on a g31 board and switched to a p35 board. all hardware is the same. processor and memory and drives are all recognized. when windows tries to boot the windows screen comes up and starts but then bluescreens. im guessing becuase of chipset driver incompatability. can i use the windows 7 install disc to repair the install or do i need to do a fresh install? El_Capitan Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) What's the BSOD error? Sometimes it might be something as simple as having your IDE/ACHI/RAID setting to whatever you had it before. rieds Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 it only flashes for a second. how do i freeze the screen? i did try changing the sata controller settings but still had the same results.
El_Capitan Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Try booting with only your OS disk, and maybe try a different SATA port.
rieds Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 i installed win 7 to another drive and all is fine. must have been the incompatability of the chipset drivers or the sata controller drivers from one board to the next.
