  1. You dudes have been blowing up my inbox because I have subscription alerts still turned on ???? Missed you all.
  2. I'm not sure what the problem was but using a new HDMI has fixed the problem indefinitely here, at least! I like it the way it is at the moment. Sony Vegas seems to play a lot better with the Intel iGPU. It doesn't crash at all now. Meanwhile I've OC'd my GPU in order to maximise my performance. All in all, I'm very happy with the way it's all turned out.
  3. Is there an easy way to test the power draw without using a device that plugs into the wall?
  4. I just swapped the cables over and it seemed to solve the issue, ie. the integrated GPU produced no artifacting on the new monitor. Swapping back produced the same problem though. Going to try a new cable now if I can find one EDIT: Tried a cheap cable from Amazon: (https://gfycat.com/SpiritedPoisedHaddock) so then thought maybe it is something to do with the cable. I swapped it out with the HDMI that came with my new monitor and: https://gfycat.com/UntriedAltruisticGentoopenguin So seems to be fixed! I'm puzzled though. What was actually causing that?
  5. Hey guys. I've just plugged my TV into the PC using the integrated GPU on my i7, and I've been met with a whole load of blue specks: https://gfycat.com/RewardingNiceCoqui Is this a bad sign? Maybe just a shot HDMI? It worked fine before but I'd like to rule out the possibility - I just haven't had a chance just yet. Ooooor... Is it a hardware fault? Something to worry about?
  6. So I'm up and running! It works perfectly. Had a bit of trouble with the Windows drivers but that was easily fixed by downloading the drivers directly. I've run a few benchmarks and there is no performance hit. I made sure that applications use the correct display device as well, and it all works really well. It looks sleek and I can now monitor performance while recording and just playing games My mindset here was that I seem to have a huge CPU overhead while recording now, so I figured I would use the iGPU for the 2nd screen in order to save every frame I possibly can. Even so, using the iGPU doesn't seem to generate any extra load or heat on the CPU. It's great! If it's true that the GPU can double idle load on a second screen, then I'm more than happy doing it this way. Woohoo!
  7. It's a single GTX 960, no OC. I'm definitely considering both options. Does a second display tend to affect in-game performance at all? In my head it's just coming across as neater to use both the GPU and the iGPU as the 960 only has a single HDMI slot.
  8. That's great! Installing the Intel graphics drivers shouldn't interfere with Nvidia should it?
  9. Hey OCC. I'm picking up a second screen for my PC tomorrow - The plan is to use my TV as one screen and a proper not-eye-destroying 24 inch monitor as the other. I'm going for HDMI as my main choice of connector but will be fine with DVI or DisplayPort as a backup. The plan is to use both my GPU and my processors iGPU to render a screen each simultaneously, but if I can't get this to work then I'll need to fall back on my GPU, which only has the single HDMI port, 3 DisplayPort connectors and 1 DVI connector. I'm looking at a really nice curved Samsung monitor for ~
  10. Hey guys. I'm thinking of picking up a 24" monitor tomorrow as we've wall-mounted the TV that we were dual-purposing for both the PC and the games consoles, so it's now unusable as a monitor. I'm looking at this monitor here: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/pc-monitors/pc-monitors/samsung-s24e510c-full-hd-24-curved-led-monitor-10132564-pdt.html Will I need to connect this to the GPU, or will I be able to plug it into my motherboard HDMI and use the 6700K IGPU to run the second screen independently? I'll be using the dedicated GPU to game, etc. but I'd like to hook it up to the TV as well in order to display other applications, like audacity for instance while I record gameplay. Is this possible or can I ONLY plug the screens into either the GPU or processor GPU? Cheers!
  11. I've been looking at SSD's, and I can get them cheap at the lower end of the spectrum. If I wanted something that was purely short-term storage for rendered videos, I can pick up a 64GB drive for around $45. I would much rather have a drive that I could use for the OS as well though. Gotta shave off those precious seconds. To get an idea of any potential bottleneck in the first place though, how would I go about testing that? I have noticed that my CPU doesn't reach 100% utilisation during encoding... But I assume that's good news. I'd assume that 100% would indicate a CPU bottleneck. It does also make me wonder if that is indication of a deeper issue, too. I went for the TX3 purely due to the size of my case - It's an ATX case, but a small one so space is very much limited. The 212 was a few mm taller than my case is deep with the side on. The TX3 keeps my CPU under 60 degrees C under load though, so it's doing fine at stock speeds. I would be wary of going into any OCing territory though.
  12. Ah, there's a name I remember! How have you been Mythos? I made the mistake of calling you Ivi for about a year and a half I will definitely get around to adding in more RAM but it's probably lower on the list of priorities at the mo. My render speeds are much faster - I'm rendering 1080p30 video approx. 1-to-1 now, but I get the feeling that my HDD might be my next bottleneck. It's a Seagate Barracuda 1TB. I've never looked into SATA, RAID or read/write speeds before. I'm learning a whole lot in a short space of time. I'd like to eventually use a RAMdisk but I don't think I'm earning enough JUST yet I'll get the full specs up, and maybe we can take a look and see how I can upgrade it further over the next few months
  13. So! I decided to go for it! A Skylake build for as good a deal as I possibly could (impatience permitted.) The components are here already, so I'll probably take a few shots and have a small build post or something. It won't be super pretty and my calls management leaves a lot to be desired, but it's so exciting!
  14. Okay so i7 it is. I'd imagine that it'll keep me going for a longer time anyway. Always need to bear in mind that a higher cost now is more than likely a lower cost later on, too So I've been using this PCPartPicker website and I've managed to find some really good deals here: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (
  15. Okay, so I'm just looking to throw a few ideas at the wall here and hopefully one of them will stick. I'll post a couple of builds with my prices in GBP (and a loose conversion to USD for comparison purposes) so that I can get an idea of the performance/cost ratio. Okay so: Skylake DDR4 Build PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (
