So I made some progress... Since the IP address of the NAS is 192.168.0.32 I can't set my adapters IP address to the same thing.... I set my adapters address to 192.168.0.33 and traffic started flowing, BUT I still have no idea what the default gateway would be or what the Domain Name Server should be, any thoughts? --Kory

I've tried everything I can think of to get my D-Link DNS-321 to connect directly to my secondary gigabit networking port on my motherboard. Its default NON-DHCP IP address is 192.168.0.32 but what should i set my DNS server and Gateway to? I'm so confused, any help is appreciated and I will answer any questions you need to help diagnose this. --Kory

D-Link DNS-321 password access please?
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Networking and Internet
Still really need help with this guys... So far I've tried telling the NAS to use a static IP address and then set my secondary network port to the same address but then I get an IP address conflict. So I set my secondary nic port to be DHCP assigned and all i get is a 169. IP address which is obviously invalid. What am I doing wrong? Do I turn on DHCP in the NAS or what? Help please! --Kory -
D-Link DNS-321 password access please?
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Networking and Internet
Ok so I tried this and I cannot get a valid IP address via DHCP ( who would assign it an IP address? itself or my pc?) also I am not using a crossover adapter just a straight cat-6 cable from the DNS-321 to my secondary nic port. Any help is apprecaited guys. Thanks Kory -
D-Link DNS-321 password access please?
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Networking and Internet
Thank you for your reply Nemo! I have an alternate idea, what if I use my secondary network port (I have two gigabit nic ports on my motherboard) to directly attach it to my computer through a crossover network cable. I'm really the only one that wants access to this NAS. Do you think this would work? -
I have a 2 Terabyte D-Link DNS-321 NAS and would like to password protect it. I run windows 7 and after mapping the drive, anyone can log into it if they are on my wired or wireless network. I want to prevent this. Is there any way to set a directory password to even look into the root folder? Thanks in advance for your networking knowledge as it's my weak point. Here's a photo for ya: --Kory

Looking for a blank memory stick placeholder.
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
DUDE! Thanks so much! P.S.... do you have one? -
Hard to explain I know, but back in 2002-2003 some Asus motherboards came shipped with these flat PCB placeholders to fill the memory card slots on their motherboards, they had no memory chips soldered to them they were just PCB with the gold "teeth" on the memory stick. I used to use one as a geek bookmark and lost the book and bookmark. I really loved that thing. If anyone has one lying around I'll pay you for it --Vaelen2001

I'm fixing a family friends PC, well her hard drive is dying and I've already replaced it. The out of PC hard drive it hooked up as a USB connection to my Netbook and I have recovered files from it. I need to know how to find the Microsoft Office key on the hard drive so I can reinstall her software ( she lost her original cd's ) I know of magic jellybean keyfinder but that only works on a system that is running the operating system that has the registry keys that contain the CD key. Any ideas of how to recover a CD key buried in the registry of a USB connected SATA drive? --vaelen2001

What OS are you running ? PMP is so old and outdated Vista formats are not recognized correctly in PMP, it usually warns you not to run PMP8 on Vista or Windows 7. They aren't really bad partitions its just that PMP can't recognize them correctly.

New bay drive... TOYS!
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Cases, Power Supplies and Modding
Yes I can have the panel extended and upright and then close the door without having to retract the screen. I usually leave my door open so it doesn't bother me. --Vaelen2001 -
New bay drive... TOYS!
Vaelen2001 replied to Vaelen2001's topic in Cases, Power Supplies and Modding
My current rig is about 2 years old, but I still love this case. There's no window because honestly it's a mess in there even with decent cable management! This bay device has temperature and fan monitors. You can speed up or slow down three fans, and monitor temperatures of three locations in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. You can set fan speed and temperature alarms and read 55 different memory cards. You also have one eSata and one USB external connection. My current setup is as follows: Temp I: Hard Disk Drive Temp II: nVidia geForce GTX 260 Temp III: Heat Pipe leading from CPU to cooling coil Fan I: Front 120mm fan Fan II: Back 120mm fan Fan III: Top 120mm fan All of my fans have fluid dynamic bearings allowing them to spin at a lower rate yet keeping CFM decent. Average rpm is 1100. Temps when system is not under load: HDD: 101F Video Card: 113F CPU Heat Pipe: 90F Youtube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2WndmzsLYs Photos: http://api.photoshop.com/home_1ab4c91a414b...def801107576260 http://api.photoshop.com/home_1ab4c91a414b...034f7fe4bb6cbf6 http://api.photoshop.com/home_1ab4c91a414b...733c286e6b4d10b http://api.photoshop.com/home_1ab4c91a414b...99f38c74803951a http://api.photoshop.com/home_1ab4c91a414b...c65cccce89e4aa3 Thank you for reading! --Vaelen2001 -
