once you get the appropriate cooling down then you must consider the mobo you are using. Appropriate measures need to be taken to cool the northbridge and possibly a better heatsink on the southbridge. With the 2800+ and a good nforce 2 board your only real concerns are cutting the L12 and removing the fsb setting jumper. After that you overclock is dependent on the stability of your power, quality and quantity of cooling, and some good ram capible of syncing to higher fsb's. I went through a few higher end water rigs with my 2800 prior to switching to phase exchange and I must tell ya that you can skip the whole watercooling phase all together and just grab an original prommie cheap before they disapear to the mach 2. With watercooling you dont spend as much but the headaches and maintenance required can out weight the benefits. You can get a prommie now for around $500 new that will turn your 2800 into a true 2,800mhz chip!!! This chip performs very well at its stock multi and anything over 200! My appologies....I just noticed in the thread that you have a barton....and....the a7n8x is a very risky overclocker. Be prepared cause I have seen them die with no cause!!! (older versions of course)

Extra Power Connecter On Mobo
Matt McFaul replied to Propane's topic in Processors, Motherboards and Memory
what problems are you having? I had gone through a few high end psu's before finding the one that totally agrees with this board. I ended with the antec true control 550 cause it comes with the attinuators in a bay bus controller for adjusting the line voltages. I have been as high as 233fsb with this thing. I am using seperate psu's though for other devices to improve stability. -
