  1. Tested for a few days now and not a single issue!! It feels Alien to be issue free - ive been scratching my head since i built the thing about 3 months ago now (why is it always the last place you look!!!!! Cheers for the support guys
  2. Well received the new MOBO last week and installed last night - ran the system with flight sim X for over 2 hours and already feels like a much happier machine! I did manage to bend one of the Processor pins in the process - I managed to somwhow smear thermal paste onto the business end of the processor and fearing a short i took a pin to clean it away "ever so gently" until noticing id just bent one of the pins!!! sat with an open mouth for about 60 seconds before gently persuading it back again, stuck it iin place and off she went, then noticed on boot that 5 cores were active, eeeeeeek - ive killed one! but just went to the BIOS and re-enabled the 6th core (dont know why it was disabled) maybe it sensed an issue!! any way the system is working and ill test for a longer period tonight but im already sensing this could finaly be it! all my RAM is installed too I have the BIOS update but didnt flash it (thought if its working leave it) am i right?
  3. Thanks for the links - but on further research its still a dark area - Maybe Nvidia cards are the only realy way of doing itive a couple of years left in my new 6950 2GB maybe ill go Nvidia then!
  4. Firefox11, i had read this article but when you get to the comments at the end it says Nvidia eventualy killed their first attempts, however the new hack is no where to be found! Scrub that - Found it here http://www.ngohq.com/graphic-cards/16223-nvidia-disables-physx-when-ati-card-is-present-28.html#post82812 - But if you jump to the latest post its back to not working due to updates in later games and the hack not keeping up - seems like a load of hassle !!
  5. Looking at what PhysX can do to a games eyecandy - and playing Arkham asylum without - is kinda making me feel like im missing out on the atmospheric elements of the game, especialy as its a new build with eyefinity. Is there a way of enabling PhysX on an AMD card (6950 2GB) or by utilizing the onboard AMD graphics? I read on Wiki that a group of programmers brought out a patch that would re-enable PhysX in Games when an Nvidia card wasnt detected? To counter this patch, Nvidia implemented a time bomb in driver versions 196 and 197 that slowed down hardware accelerated PhysX and reversed the gravity, but an updated version of the patch removed all unwanted effects. Anyone know of /Used? If the only other route is to buy a cheap Nvidia card Wikipedia tells me - (series 8 and newer, with a minimum of 32 cores and 256MB of video memory) will do the Job - However, would 2 video cards from different manufacturers with both drivers running together (+onboard GPU) work or is this just asking for a world of pain!!. anyone doing it and care to post their success/failures
  6. Appreciate the advice guys, Ive ordered a ASUS M4A89GTD PRO - AM3 Socket - 890GX - If this doesnt work i should maybe take up a new hobby!! Will report when installed
  7. Yea makes sense, would feel a right idiot if i got the R2. and same thing happens - especialy with their customer care being non existant!!
  8. Yea thinking same, Cant believe you had bad luck with two Gfx cards - i RMA's mine thinking it was the issue - moved away from that thought when i got a brand new same card and it didnt make any difference. Youve a pretty similar set-up(Minus the crosfire) what MOBO do you run? Cheers
  9. Been a while since i updated you guys - Holidays and work taking up my time. Purchased a new PSU (Cooler master 850W) Installed and bang same BSOD's !!!! Last week i decided to chase down the MOBO manufacturer AsRock - Logged a ticket and they didnt reply!! instead im directed by a Auto mail to seek advice from the FAQ's or the many forums they posess - I chose Tweak Town Forums and aired my grievances there. My Post on TweakTown Met a like for like situation with another user with Same MOBO and same BSOD's - he supplied a link with the BETA BIOS flash (AsRock never bothered with a fully supported update for the MOBO) and instead decided to design a new card called the 890GX Extreme4 R2.!! My MOBO allegedly has heat issues After Flashing to the BETA BIOS system has become a little more stable (still crashes after about 2 hours with any games!) Wont allow more than 2 sticks of RAM and rejects my PCI soundcard that id spent €400 on 2 years back (Even latest Drivers) System seems to work stable enough when not gaming! but its a gaming machine!! Arrrrggghhh So its a new MOBO now - shall i go for the AsRock updated version 890GX Extreme 4 R2. (which has had 3 Bios updates since release) My MOBO has had 0! Or should i stay clear and move to something else?? absolutely any comments would be appreciated Win7 64bit Enterprise edition AsRock 890GX Extreme4 (NOT R2.) 10. Ill check bios again but when it all began it was same as already on board. Thinking new power supply now. Didnt look yet but are nexus on the recommended list?
  11. Vlad I was thinking along those lines too. A techie guy at work said he experienced same issues with a new build and scratched his head for nearly 7 weeks before buying a new nexus psu and hasn't looked back since.
  12. Sorry about spelling.on a mobile device with fat fingers
  13. I have tried disabling onboard but same issues.do you really believe re,insyslling os could help, its a brand mews build with very little on it !
  14. wevsspot, Same problem if im running 1 monitor through the onboard (But 6950 still installed) take out 6950 and system stable again!!!
