Wester547 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 (edited) How is it possible that the GeForce 8600 GTS is twice as fast as the 8600 GT in some select benchmarks? I can concede that I have one myself (XFX GeForce 8600 GTS, not Foxconn), and even overclocked, from what I've compared the results are no place near that. Noticeable, yes, but not 1.6x-2x.... and not consistently 1.4x-1.5x. Closer to 1.2x-1.4x. I know it (8600 GTS) has noticeably more memory bandwidth (in comparison to the 8600 GT), as well as fillrate, but is the Foxconn model a 512MB one? Or is it overclocked? That would bring lucidity. Otherwise, that difference is stretching it out by far, unless I'm mistaken. Edited December 11, 2007 by Wester547
Guest ajmatson Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Actually I have the same FoxConn Card and it does perform quite well. It is a 256MB card. Those numbers are on. Look at the speeds too 700MHz on the GTS va 540 on the GT and 1700MHz on the GTS vs 1400 on the GT. Also the data bandwidth on my 8600GTS is 34.4GBs compared to 22.4 on the GT. Hope this clarifies it for you.
