Gigabyte G1.Assassin Review

It's not a pro, period. It's based on X58, it's over $500, and has arguably useless extra "features" to justify the price.

This board was designed with gamers in mind. Since when have gamers demanded enthusiast quality sound? No gamer needs anything beyond the integrated 7.1 found on the majority of modern motherboards.

And the NIC! Talk about frivolous. The only thing I can see being "neat" or "useful" would be the visual bandwidth control. Oh that's great that it has 128MB of DDR2 and it's own network processor... or it would have been if I had a P4 and 1GB of RAM. 6-8GB is becoming the standard for memory, and quad-core processors at high clocks are becoming the standard for processing. I won't notice whether the killer NIC is installed or not, I promise.

This series is freaking cool, and I would LOVE to own this motherboard. It belongs in every gamer's wet dream, but the price is NOT a pro lol (speaking as someone who spent $360 for mine).
