  1. i found a ghetto yet effective solution. That's an 80 mm lian-li fan screwed onto my cpu fan so that it is blowing air on the heatsink. I unplugged that fan so it makes no noise now. it's hard to see because of the lack of light under my desk and all, so if you really want i'll snap a better pic tomorrow during the day.
  2. Well, i'm making this post on what seems to be my dying computer. My NB cooling fan started making some funny noises on monday, so i blew all the dust out of it, only to have the problem come back on tuesday, so i hit it with a screwdriver. Now, in the wee hours of friday I have just awaken to the same mechanical whirring noise that makes me want to hurt myself. If anyone knows how common this problem is, and if there is a way to fix it without buying a new NB fan, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. coming through in the wildcard is the Canon SD300 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-120-160&depa=0 Found nothing but praise for it, it is the perfect size for what i want with the big LCD and LI-ion battery to boot. There was an unexpected raise in the price window, so it's all good. Thanks for all your help and suggestions guys.
  4. the small, point and shoot I probably should have mentioned that in the original post, but I just need one to play around a bit with, not crazy-obsessive like photo options, just basics. EDIT: How about... http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-120-121&depa=0
  5. thanks for your help so far, but does anyone have any feedback about the sony?
  6. I have come seeking your advice. With Christmas coming up, I'd really like to finally get a decent digital camera. Just a few specfics I'm looking for, but feel free to bend them just a little bit or offer any advice you may have. 4.0 megapixel should be all i really need And i desperately desire rechargeable bateries, i hate dealing with alkalines i'm trying for less than 300 or so hear, preferably around 200 or so that said, i have found this one newegg http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-150-043&depa=0 An advice, experience, recommendations are welcome, and thanks for your time
  7. still working on it myself, not even two weeks but i'm pretty confident now, just remember that it's better to peel the tires off a bit then stall out. AFter all, it's a no brainer, show off or embarass yourself, right? That and it takes quite a bit to completely break your tires loose, and best when you're not completely tryint to burn out, all you'll get is a little squeak out of them. Relazx, take your time, and PRACTICE. Simple as that. Another trick is to take it to a parking lot and learn to start up WITHOUT using the gas. This requires very very slow and steady clutch work, and will give you a better feel or it. Worked fairly well for me, just remember to use the gas on the road. Nothing sucks like getting rear-ended...
  8. My grandfather bought his mercedes in overalls and a flannel shirt. He shopped for it in like attire too, i mean, why would he change just to look at cars? At some dealerships they even refused to put a salesman on him, quite ridiculous i think. However, my test drive comes as a direct relation to the proprieter Also, i can't wait for THE GT to come in, as i'm going to at least be getting a ride in, if not driving that (from one end of the lot to the toher) myself. As soon as we get something other than V6 auto, i'll try to get some pictures for you guys, but as it is now, not quite worth just looking at the bottom of the barrel here
  9. agreed And lego, what you want is the '69 GT500, not the '65 350..... I love the retro look of it, but all you can get RIGHT now are the V6 auto's which are rather powerful for a V6 and an auto. The 5 speeds and GT's are on hold indefinitely, but when they come in, i'm gonna see if i can get myself a quick test drive
  10. It's working for me, i just dropped my million down and now am responsible for over 1% of our total keystroke score
  11. cat's are more efficinet with peanut butter, so you may want to coat the gerbil in peanut butter for better results.
  12. Family members and pets come first, but if they were all safe, I'd grab the computer if i could, not for the computer, but just so i could keep the hard drive. Lots of neat stuff on there I'd prefer not to lose. But yes, insurance is there to replace all that stuff, so mine/my family's sorry butts all come first.
  13. ghetto fabulous, but it looks much more insane in person =-o EDITED for grammar poliec
  14. There aren't any teenage girls on IRC, and if they're were, WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME?!? FYI I'm 16, so I'm not a pedo
  15. the purpose of the duct was to eliminate the dead spot caused by the hubs on fans. If you leave a fan on the HS, then you still have the dead spot and the TT duct would be useless. And since you're using the silentboost, it probably doesn't pack the CFM's to really make the duct worthwhile. Give up on the TT duct, and if you're going to duct, do it from the fan ON the heatsink, to outside of the case, so as to draw fresh air to the CPU, as opposed to stale air. Once again, doubling the fans on the duct will only RAISE your temps. See if you can sell the duct to someone with a more powerful fan that can fully utilize the potential of the duct's design.
