BSOD IRQL

gebraset

Recommended Posts

So, just had the same error on my wife's computer as I did mine about a week ago. I'm almost certain its a driver, but the issue is that even with safe mode, I couldn't log into either PC. So in the end, I had to do a refresh, which kept the personal files on the computer. The error was something like:

DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL (kbdclass.sys)

All of the support forums and Microsoft documents that talk about this error want individuals to do things within Windows. Without being able to log into it, it's impossible. I tried running a SFC and CHKDSK from the command prompt in recovery, and the first stated that it was already pending and couldn't run it, while the second stated that the disk was locked and couldn't be access as an NTFS drive.

Overall, biggest headache of my life to install all of the applications all over again and get the PC updated back to Windows 8.1. Laptops are just over a year old with a brand new OS, and both now have been wiped out. Horrible.

Hmmm, I could try it when I get home and can burn the software to a disc. Either way, the same error within a week on two different, but same model, computers? I'm voting some kind of Windows update got us since update Tuesday was just last week, if I am remembering the schedule correctly.

well try a system restore... while the last weeks update has boogered a few PCs.... I saw a large complaint about reboots hanging on a black screen. My personal rig got updates and was slower after the reboot. it seems fine now but I will agree some update last week wasnt right...
