DanTheGamer11 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 No idea, if ya got 1Gb ports on all your things I assume use CAT6 or whatever
AkakmanH Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Rule of thumb - for 100mb use Cat5 - for 1gb useCat6. However, for short 1gb runs, under 10ft, you can use Cat5 and be O/K as long as you don't run the cable parallel to power cords. If you need runs over 100ft then you probably want plenum cable and ground the shield.
Stonerboy779 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Cat6 price difference between it and cat5/cat5e isn't worth worrying about and it'll save getting new cabling in the future.
SpikeSoprano Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I use both cat5 and 6 on my network and really don't see any difference in speed between the 2.
