Gr4vitas Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 So I've got a linksys wrt54gs I've had it forever and its always served me well. Long story short I upgraded my internet to 50mb down and 5 up. Through this router I can only get a max of 20mb down. I've tried doing some research but it looks like people are saying thats about as good as this router will do. Like I said its super old. Anyway I'm fine with that, she's served me well and she can now retire to a much needed long rest in the box of 'still good but no longer needed'. So I'm looking to upgrade my router to something newer, I'm on a budget so I'm hoping I can get something that will handle 50mb download speeds for $50 or less. I do need at least one switch port on it so I can hook up to a few LAN connections. What are your guys' thoughts?
Gr4vitas Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) I should also mention, I don't need any fancy features, just good reliable wireless internet, along with good reliable LAN. Up to 50mb or more. I should also mention, I can't get above 20mbps on lan with this router, my main rig isn't wireless and I can't get speeds above 20mbps, when I hook directly to my modem I can hit 50mbps every time. Gr4vitas Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I ended up with a belkin N600, paid $58 for it. We'll see how it work, so far so good, my speeds are finally what I've been paying for.
