  1. I wonder if somebody will be able to help me with a really strange problem, ok, here is the deal: Lately I bought a completely new machine, win XP on it. The only problem I noticed is with DVD burner! IT reads everything but does NOT record. The system sort of crashes at the start of burning process when the buffer has to fill in and it does not at all. I use Nero 6.6 or sth was included in the package. Anyways, I tried to install other versions of ASPI and still same problem, I even reported the DVD-rec as broken and I got a brand new one and still same problem. However, the weird thing is that when I put this DVD-rec in my other PC with same software configurations, IT WORKS! Thus,I conclude that the problem is in some drivers, for example mainboard or some firmware I dont really know. Maybe some of u know this problem and know how to solve it or have suggestions, I would appreciate if u could help me with that.
  2. Alright, thanks a lot!!! So, which adsl modem/router would be good to buy? for a price not more than $100
  3. My modem is only USB and it only has adsl line in thats all. So I have to by something like wireless modem/router?? and If I buy one do I have to connect it to any PC? because the point is to connect it only to the adsl line and thats all. All 3 computers must be modem connection-free.
  4. So you mean I will connect my ADSL USB modem to the wife-router and thats all?, or wait perhaps Im stupid or I can connect the ADSL line to the wife router and Im done?
  5. Hello, I never had any experience with wireless networks so I need to ask a question: The situation is the following: I have an ADSL modem (alcatel Speedtouch 330) USB connected to one of my PC's at home. Overall, I have 3 computers with wireless Lan card and I need a sort of wireless Modem/router ( Im not sure??) The problem is that I want this modem/router to be only connected to the ADSL external line and thats it!!! so that all my 3 computers would have internet. In particular, I have an adsl line downstairs and 3 computers on 3rd floor and I dont want to drag any cable from my modem and connect it to USB one of my PC's in order to have internet, so I ask for some advice: What system should I buy to have only one box standing connected to the line and other computers use internet wireless??
  6. I sent an email to RMA already and they replaced it for new one and I got the same problem so I wrote them again and they said they will check if its a genuine problem, if so then they will give me cash back or sth I dono,, but till now I have that mainboard and I hear no answear for a week!!!
  7. The jumpers are set properly, On master/single drive, besides I tried all combinations, and yes I connected CD roms, DVDs to the primary IDE still NOTHING!!! like its DEAD. The only think I thought is maybe some settings in BIOS by I guess its not the case, (I read the manual) so yeah it might just be a defect on a mobo so I will try to return it. the end... Thx to everybody for support.
  8. No, it has nothing to do with the disk! I'm currently installing Windows XP on it, just that its connected to Secondary IDE instead of Primary. I suspect that the primary IDE slot on the motherboard is damaged, so maybe I need to get a new Mobo. Do you think that's the problem? Thanx
  9. Yes, I actually have 3 IDE cables and I tried them all. My hard drive is not SATA so it has nothing to do with that.. But thanks for reply anyways! < < < Ok, just to sum up: the problem is that my PC cannot detect the HDD when it's connected to Primary IDE > > >
  10. I recently got a new system, MB: Asus A8v-x K8t800 Atx Sound Lan Sata Ii Raid with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice etc. nvm, I got a problem! I installed all the components and connected my HDD to primary IDE and two DVD drives on secondary IDE then I started my PC the BIOS detects only secondary IDE but not a primary, so basicly it does not detect my HDD on primary IDE master. The HDD jumper is set on master, cables are connected properly, the CMOS was cleared. When I start the PC it displays the following: Primary IDE master: not detected Primary IDE slave: not detected Secondary IDE master: DVD Lite-ON (whatever the code is I dono) Secondary IDE slave: DVD-RW ASUS (also some code) But! When I connect my HDD to secondary IDE it detects my HDD. Im suspecios that primary IDE connection on mainboard is busted or maybe I havent made right configuration in BIOS. I even tried to disable SATA in BIOS and its still does nto work, can u please write suggestions how I can fix that problem?
  11. I tried and check most of the things above and I think the MB is a problem, I actually noticed weird looking tops pf capasitors, all of them were perfectly flat and 3 of them we abit bulging, hard to see but there is a difference still, so it might be that. On the otherhand my 6 years old MB for AMD Duron has very significant bulging in few capasitors and the system works alright.
  12. I put an old AMD duron to on my present mainboard and put an AC Copper Silent 3 heat sink on it. The problem was the same, PC crashes during Setup. I concluded that the mainboard is damaged. What else can I check to make sure it is a mainboard and how can I test it?
  13. I took out the heat sink, the paste was abit smuged, guess I put too much anyways I cleaned the CORE and I noticed some little square (gray like from paste), it was not there before but I looked up and I think its normal, check the attached picture. There are no scratches besides that. What should I do next?, I dont have any other MB or CPU, nor my friends that can borrow.
  14. I checked the capasitors, everythinig seems to be perfect. and btw what do u mean "by "domed tops"? Im not sure if I should take a heatsink off, it is a very uncomfortable work but I can still do it just that I got a question. Is it possible that windows start up crashes because of CPU core scratches? Because I havent seen any scratches before, I cleaned the core and the bottom of heatsink was super clean (when i removed the sticker). Besides I thought that if BIOS works, pc starts means CPU is alright. One more thing, I checked the HDD on other PC and its OK. Im more suspecious about MB.
  15. Yes, ur right! MB: Gigabyte K7 Triton 400, AGP 8x, FSB 333Mhz, Socket A CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.67Ghz (Thoroughbred) CPU cooler: AC Copper Silent 3 RAM: 2x256MB + 1x512MB DDR 2700 G-card: ASUS G-Force 6600GT Power supply 350W max
