Ready to buy a new power supply

Recommended Posts

Take the Seasonic :)

Sold! Order has been placed. Thanks, everyone!

Atta boy :)

And with the money I saved from buying the Corsair, I ordered a couple Blu-Rays to fill out my collection. I think this was the right decision!

This thread reminds me of a couple "golden rules" when it comes to power supply selection;

1. Invest in quality - not wattage that you don't need

2. A power supply is an investment - don't skimp out

Is the Seasonic unable to deliver on either point?

I like both brands, but I've heard better stories about Seasonic.

Awesome, I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase. Should be a great upgrade over my poverty-level Thermaltake.

+1 usualy seasonic is behind the scenes on many other branded PSUs... this is what I hate so much about PSUs lol

That's why I have this bookmarked: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913.html

Just find out if your PSU to be is from a good OEM (unless, in Seasonic's case, they are their own supplier which are great)

That's really interesting, thanks for the link. I always new this was the case but I had never seen a table like this before.

No problem, I either found it randomly or someone posted it here long ago. Either way it really interested me so I saved it/remembered it and check it once in a while if I'm looking into power supplies even though my old "Sparkle" is holding out nicely :D

Corsair usually uses Seasonic, Flextronics, and Channel Well PSU's and rebrands them as Corsair units. All of them are high quality units, and Corsair has exceptional customer support, so you would have been good with any of those choices.

That said, I would have picked the Seasonic, too. :)
