RHKCommander959 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 you have a good point , but there is a mistake , yes you can run 5970 + 5870 ( x3 5870 ) or 5870+5850 but what you can not do is 5870 + 5770 / 5750 You are correct here. For a chart showing combinations check out the chart from AMD: http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/images/c...combo_chart.jpg

ccokeman Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 The review was to show yes it can be done and yes there is performance to be gained by doing it. Nothing more nothing less!
Krieg1337 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Pretty much if you buy an HD5870 and get an HD5850 for free from a contest(Like OCC?) it would be pretty good to do this because you still get increased performance, and I mean about 50% more performance for free, who wouldn't take that? Zertz Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 so its to do with the chip / core (sorry cant thing of the exact term) in the cards? if they're the same chip(?) it will work Yes, it has to be the same core. You can CF different 5800's (and the 5970), but not a 5800 and a 5700.
