DnaAngel Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) Been working on a project build for a co-worker. Decided to go with the i5 3570k on this one. So far I'm sitting comfortable at 4.5ghz @ 1.23v and max load temps are barely touching 63c via 3Dmark11, P95 and AIDA64. 63c max after 5 hours on only 1.23v seems like I got some headroom left? is this good/bad so far for this chip? How long of a lifespan will she see if I leave it at 1.23v on a 24/7 OC via Fixed voltage. She wont be turning PC off, just random reboots here and there. Cooler is a Xigamatek Dark Knight II Night Hawk Edition (Cooler is amazing, only 2 degrees off from my H100) Here are the specs: (some ppl might want to know) Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Asus Maximus V Formula Intel Core i5 3570k Xigmatek Dark Knight II G.Skill 4x4GB 2133 ASUS DCUII GTX 660Ti TOP Rosewill Capstone 80+ Gold 650 Watt Intel 520 Series SSD 120Gb Western Digital Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA6G Logitech G510 Logitech G600 Edited February 1, 2013 by DnaAngel
Boinker Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 You should be good. So long as the voltage is well below manufacture specification and the heat is kept very low you shouldnt have an issue getting a good time span out of the chip. You can never tell or put a number on longivity but i would run speed step and c states so you can get the throttle down features and allow tue chip to sleep. This.woild help its.life.span. d6bmg Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Those are good numbers, and nothing outrageous at all. Overclocking to 4.5Ghz with 1.23V won't hurt the lifetime of chip at all.
