Black64 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 So I recently started having a slightly annoying USB issue. Here is my current setup. Setup - Motherboard USB to USB 6 foot extension to USB hub (4 port unpowered) to Schiit dac, USB mouse and a lighting cable (not in use all the time) Issue - When I turn on the port that my DAC is plugged into my mouse stops working, but is still detected by my PC. I found the fix to be resetting (turning off then on again) the USB port for my mouse and everything works. Possible fix? - Would a powered USB switch fix this? Is my mouse losing amperage and freaking out? Thanks for the help!
El_Capitan Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Yeah, you need a powered USB hub. I have a powered and non-powered. If you have something that doesn't use a lot of power, or something that supplies it's own power (like a microphone with it's own power cable), then it'll work. The reason why it's working when you reset your USB port is usually when something is turned on, there's more initial current being needed for things to start. The sustained current is usually lower than what's needed to start it off. Edited October 27, 2014 by El_Capitan
