Overclocking Q8400

As title says it... I'm trying to OC my q8400. So far i learned how to change CPUs clock and how to modify RAMs timing and such... There is only one thing that's not clear to me, I'm trying to increase slightly CPU voltage but it aint increasing... CPU VID is 1.2750 and vcore is set on 12750 but actual Vcore says thats it's around 1.232. When i increase it slightly, persay, to 1.28xx Vcore still says its @ 1.232. When i set it to exacly 1.3000 then it moves to 1268. Can someone explain me why can't i fine tune voltage for CPU and why is there a sudden jump between setting volts and everything you set in the middle doesn't change a thing.

My system specs are:

CPU:Q8400 currently OCed @ 3.2ghz

Motherboard: X48DS4

RAM:kingston hyperx KHX8500 5-5-5-15 @ 1066mhz

If someone can share a thought or two with me it'd help me a lot!

Can someone please explain me why is it crude???
