Nemo Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 While price/gigabyte is still a factor when comparing solid state dries to conventional drives, there's no comparison when it comes to speeds. OCC takes a look at a solid state drive using the SandForce SF-1222 controller with our review of the Patriot Inferno 120GGB SSD - http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/patriot_inferno_120gb/
Psywar Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Nice review Alan! I think I would personally stay away from the drive. It is a nice price, but if I am going to spend that much money on an SSD I would get one that performs a bit better.
hierovision Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I just installed one of these in an i7 build not too long ago. Nothing but joy.
RealNeil Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Cons: * Inconsistent scores * Slower writes than compared drives I think that having to wait for a firmware update to realize the full potential of the drive is a deal breaker. One would think that the manufacturer has tested this drive extensively before releasing it for sale. Why didn't they catch these characteristics? Do you test in a different manner? Thanks for a good review,...I'd rather read about it here than experience it firsthand, myself.
