  1. Hey guys I have just performed a benchmark (crystalmark) on a new system with an intel 80GB SSD and 4x1TB Samsung Spinoint HDDs in RAID0....... all on the intel ICH10R.....and my OS Users folder is on the RAID0 setup and not the SSD (not on the OS drive - if it matters....) I did a 3x100MB run for both and got these results: Intel SSD: Seq Read 267.1 Seq Write 86.35 4k Read 21.59 4k Write 63.70 4x1TB Samsung: Seq Read 694.4 Seq Write 571.7 4k Read 33.53 4k Write 30.74 I haven't even enabled caching yet on the RAID0 so it is even better than these results......... I am not worried about putting the OS on a RAID0 array - I have a backup solution. My question is should I just put my whole OS on the RAID0 for the sake of speed or are these results bogus - especially the 4k ones on the RAID0? I am aware that response time is way better for the SSD drive and I do get very different results on the 4k with the 1000MB test but I'm not sure the 1000MB test is any indication to how the OS would operate on these drives - but I might be bias about this..... (coz I want FASTER....as we all do....) I would be happy to hear more educated opinions than mine about this and I thank you for any replies....... Little Bonus question: Why is my windows 7 experience HDD score "only" 7.8 (was 7.7 on the marvell controller by the way.....) and not the full 7.9 I read on SSD related forum posts? (The placement of the Users folder doesn't make a difference here....) Thanks again.....
  2. I'm not sure his source is valid but since there are more than a few news reports about early availability and no feedback or backlash from Intel that I've seen yet - it might be true......
  3. The prices here - as someone who lives here - are very fair.....the new motherboards are sold at the same price as the "older"-already-on-sale-motherboards and this is a good thing.....I remember when the LGA1366 motherboards just got here they were very overpriced...... seems that the new LGA1155 ones at launch are about 100$ less expensive than the LGA1366 at their launch..... I read somwhere that Intel has decided to turn a blind eye on retailers that have the new sandy bridge hardware and they are letting them sell it before launch......they see it as an advantage for some reason..... I read boards are already for sale in taiwan and england and also chips in malaysia.....so I guess/hope we will be seeing benchmarks in the next couple of days.......at least on the i5 chips....
  4. Hi guys, I hope I am not spamming the forum by doing this so if I am just delete this......sorry I just wanted to show anyone who is interested about the pricing of the new sandy bridge...... Sandy bridge and accompanying Gigabyte motherboards have arrived where I live - in Israel.......only i5 models today but maybe i7 will also arrive very soon....... It is in stock and for sale...... i5-2300 = 303 $ i5-2500 = 358 $ The motherboards: Gigabyte P67A-UD7 = 498 $ Gigabyte P67A-UD5 = 386 $ Gigabyte P67A-UD4 = 291 $ Gigabyte P67A-UD3 = 202 $ Gigabyte P67A-UD3H = 219 $ Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H = 183$ Gigabyte PH67A-UD3 = 177 $ Gigabyte H67MA-U2H = 155 $ Gigabyte PH67-UD3 = 152 $ We pay more for this stuff than the US.....probably the same as europe and sometimes a little more..... I payed 110$ more than the US for a LGA1366 UD5 two weeks ago (390$ instead of 280$) and 100$ more for the Corsair AX850 (290$ instead of 190$)........everything here is about 40% more expensive than the US so keep this in mind...... Happy holidays to all..... EDIT: Oh well........... It got taken off the site today....... I guess they just got the stuff yesterday and updated their supplys and accidently left their site with the update as well............ or something........
  5. Hi man... Unfortunately no case is perfect and there are always things that would be nice to change.... If you have alot of time, money and a little skill - I think it would be a great chance to take a few months till Intel's Sandy Bridge gets here and build you own case for that build.... I know I would love to get a chance to do that if I ever get the free time.... Lets get back to reality for a sec though.... If I could get a case for free I would either get a Lian-Li LIAN LI PC-V2120A (All Silver) or Lian-Li LIAN LI PC-V2120X (All Black) or Lian-Li PC-A77F or a Silverstone FT02 (Unfortunately I doubt I could find a TJ07 where I live as they aren't beying sold anymore and are well... quite old anyway) I suppose you already have at least a few good models on your mind.... If you simply can't decide I suggest you check which model is first available to you and let that narrow down your choices.... You might not be able to find some of the cases where you live.... Good luck with your holy quest my friend....
  6. Alright....... Thanks for your help guys..... I have a feeling I'll be going with the AX1200 despite the minor problems that it may bring...... Hope I get a good one....... Thanks for the post Crawlerz246 ..... I have considered a PSU with a side mounted 80mm fan but I only have the Antec Quattro 1000w model here and while i'm sure it's a good model it isn't a new model and it costs 50$ less than the AX1200 so I think i'll be going for that one......
  7. Thanks Krieg1337 for your response...... I do want at least a 1000w PSU but I also want to get the best value out of my buy.... Maybe if I write down the prices I am able to get here it will be simpler to decide or give advice: AX1200 - 400$ HX1000 or Enermax 1050W - 360$ AX850 - 280$ If anyone thinks I'm wrong for thinking 40$ is a small price to pay for 200W more (than a 1000W PSU) on a PSU or if the price difference from the 850W to 1200W is so unjustifiable that I should just *shut up* (*=EDITED) and get a 850W PSU and call it a day - tell me so Thanks again for the kind help and responses..... EDITED - I have edited myself disrespecting myself - sorry for the "bad language"
  8. thanks for the response paulktreg.... If it was a little cheaper I would have gotten the HX1000 or an Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050w but their price here is too close to the AX1200 and they are older models so I ruled them out of the pick.... EDIT: PS - I am getting a full tower case so Ill have no problem with space...
  9. Very nice..... I wanted you to leave it black at first but I was dead wrong..... actually looks like a star-wars prop...... good job
  10. Hi there OverclockersClub forum users.... I am just finishing buying all the parts for a new PC and I have a problem with coosing the PSU. My new system is going to be a i7-920 overclocked 24/7 to a (hopefully) stable 3.8 Ghz on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 Rev 2.0 Motherboard with 12 gb of XMS3 memory (2gbX6) at 1600 Mhz (hopefully), plus either a Gigabyte GTX470 SOC or a soon to be released GTX 570 graphics card, an Intel 80gb SSD and 4 Samsung 1Tb HDDs and an option to have 2 SSDs and 10 HDDs running on the machine, 4-5 case fans, two CPU heatsink fans and maybe a RAID PCIe card. My first thought was to get a 1000W PSU to be comfortable with but I can't find a good model in that class where I live.... I am now trying to choose either the Corsair AX850 which I fear might not give me at least the 5 years of total stability I seek and the Corsair AX1200 which I fear is a little too much for my needs and I have read and heard that the first batch had a fault that made the PSU make a really annoying sound and I can't be sure I won't have to play the exchange game for three months with it... What should I do? Is a 850W PSU enough or should I overshoot with the 1200W psu which might be faulty and need exchanging? Thanks for your time and responses....
