SSD questions

Recommended Posts

Getting an SSD drive and I have a few questions.

First off I know I want a 120gb SSD so I was thinking of going with OCZ or the Corsair Force GT. However when comparing those on newegg I came across a Mushkin SSD with all the features of these SSD's but like 40 bucks cheaper! Anyone have any feedback on these?

Here are the links

Mushkin http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820226236

OCZ http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820227726

Corsair http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233191

Thanks

Read my blog. :P

If you don't need the extra performance, then go with whatever's cheaper. If I were to pick, I'd go with the Corsair Force GT. The Patriot Pyro SE is pretty much almost exactly the same as the Corsair Force GT, so as Stoner said, check the prices on those as well..

My $40 64GB Kingston in my HTPC keeps right up with my $110 120GB Vertex 2. :bah:

Actually, I would say that if you are not moving around 100gb files every day you should get the mushkin drive and save yourself the money.

Syncronus and Asyncronus NAND, doesn't that make a difference to you?

To 99% of SSD users, not really.

Well I guess I like to get whats advertised along with reliability and everything else that typically comes with getting the better product. Plus $159 for the Patriot Pyro SE 120GB when I bought them, made me so happy was the most reasonable priced SSD I had seen in aus. Currently loving my sub 20sec press power to open chrome on my laptop.

As El Captain said, not really. The reason Mushkin stuck with the Asynchronus is so that they could improve their firmware. That is why you get such unusual speed out of a cheaper SSD like the mushkin chronos.

Honestly, if he can save 40 bucks, why not? It is not like he should be writing to the thing day in and day out for 8 years. Unless he has a small home business and REALLY needs reliability, then the chronos will be fine. But then again if that were the case he should get an intel drive anyways. :P
