  1. RGone, Thanks very much for the offer of help. I've also got a response from DFI tech support, firstly to confirm that what I've been doing was right, and then, when I advised I've now used every single version of Via 8237 drivers i could find, they have recommended that I RMA the board. So it's back to the suppliers. But thankyou, you've been a great help. Regards,
  2. anyone got one of these babies ? I'm having terrible trouble getting the SATA to work, and the CD that came with it is unreadable. if you have one of these boards, I'd appreciate it if you could email me the CDs contents so I can recreate it. Also, if you got SATA to work in JBOD mode, which BIOS are you running, which SATA drivers did you use, and did you have to make any changes to BIOS settings in order to see the drive ? thanks in advance .....
  3. Thanks. Yes I've read the manual, which is not exactly helpful as it says you'll need drivers, but doesn't specify which ones. The CD that came with mobo is unreadable on any of the 5 cd rom drives I have at home, and DFI don't seem to think that it's necessary to put the CD image on their support site, even though the via raid controller manual is on the cd, but not on their site. I've assumed therefore, that raid driver revision 040701 is no good to me because it specifically says on the website that it's not needed if you are not running raid. Therefore I must need either 2.20d or 4.10a and it makes sense (to me) that the latter supercedes the former. No matter what I do, XP install never sees the drive. Neither does the BIOS - surely this should ?
  4. No matter what i do, I can't get WinXP to see the Via 8237 SATA controller on my mobo and allow me to run my SATA drive in JBOD mode. I've tried my drive in another machine (a shuttle by chance) and it worked fine, so I know the samsung hardware is ok. The Antec happily works with a spinpoint p80 IDE drive, which suggests it's not a power consumption thing. I'm installing Win XP SP2. It fails to see the drive if I don't hit F6, and if I do hit F6, and feed it a floppy built from V 4.10a via raid drivers, it loads drivers, but still doesn't see the drive My raid bios (tab on POST) sees the drive, but of course won't let me do anything as it's expecting 2 drives so it can raid array them. My main Bios never shows any hint of an SATA drive. I've seen bios's where the SATA devices are shown directly under the IDE drives, but not this beastie. Basically I'm stuck. No idea what to do next short of RMAing the board, which I really don't want to have to do, especially if it turns out I've done something silly. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated. Regards BiggusDoggus.
