  1. I made a ghost image of my current comp, then went back to an old image of when I had just reformatted. When I go into iTunes now and import all my songs all the ratings are gone. Is there any way I can get this out of my old image and import it into iTunes so I dont have to re rate everything? Thanks, Ted
  2. So Im going to uni and I want to make my comp more geared toward silence then toward huge overclocks; it was fun pushing the comp while it lasted but it doesn't really matter to me that much anymore. Anyways long story short, I have a swiftech pump and two micro rads cooling a 2.8 800FSB P4 and 9800xt. Right now i have 2 fanse on each rad (4 intake), 2 exhaust at the back, and 1 exhaust blow hole, plus the ones in the PSU. My question is how many of these fans can I take out. I was thinking of putting two silent fans one the rads (one on each), and on blow hole, then put the remaining ones and the lights on a switch so that they can be turned on and off. Your thoughts? Thanks, Ted
  3. Y ai think ive decided on the 810. Um last thing (i hope), can/ has anyone run dual monitor on their laptop. I know the expansion dock has a DVI and analog monitor port an di think it says that it can support dual display. Will the x600 be able to handle it? Thanks, Ted Gah and now I also find a toshiba which rivals dell d810, and may even be better, and has the same docks and everything. here
  4. Just a little info: 3dmark 03 x300 1.6 pm, 512: 2555 3dmark 03 x600 1.86 pm (in d810 actually), 512: 3200 what i get now about on my desktop: 7000 Crap, this is gonna be an adjustment. Still worth getting the extra 2 pounds for 700 more in 3dmark? What difference will I see? Thanks again for all the help. Ted
  5. lol, ummm yes my name is OCit, and hence i have a desktop. Thats what i use it for. No one really answered my question, well sort of. I won't be doing THAT much gaming, but ill be at school and wont have room for a laptop and a desktop so this computer will be my only onel for games, work or otherwise. Hmm i does anyone have a 14" screen and think its too small? How much will I notice the extra pound and a bit. Thanks, Ted
  6. I know, dell, but for laptops the latitude series suits me PERFECTLY. However, i have one (minor) problem, which model, 610 or 810? The 810 offers a bigger screen and an x600 compared to x300 in the d610 but is also a bit* thicker but about 2 pounds heavier. I will have the computer docked (this is what really sold me on the latitude) and running an external screen so my question is it worth it do you think to have the better card and bigger screen along with the weight? Convince me please! Thanks, Ted Dell Canada (aka CDN dollars) here O and this comparison chart might help here
  7. Hey, Im about to buy the Sony FS however I have one hesitation, is a company going to release a new model right after I buy. I know soommebooddyyy i always about to release a new model but I was wondering if any of you have heard any rumors and if you think I should wait until the summer. Thanks, Ted
  8. Naw id rather a sleek looking comp with small form factor. I thought i was sold on the xps 2 but i realized i just dont need it and this sony is pretty sick so Im thinking ill get it. I was looking at the 6200 on orb at future mark and it looks decent for what i need. Size, battery life, and looks are the most important things to me right now
  9. Ya I wont be doing that much gaming but i think itd be useful to take a laptop to lectures/other rooms/ library etc. One i was looking at is the sony fs 550 sonoma with a 2 ghz 533 fsb, gb ram, 15" xbrite, 6200 go. My only concern is the graphics, the 6200 go. how bad is it? could i play cs source on it? games arent a huge concern (i have a "gaming" rig right now and hardly play any games). Anyways you can see the laptop at here. Thanks for the input, Ted
  10. Im about to get a new laptop, and the new dell xps seems so tempting. But before I do I need a few opinions from university graduates. How useful is it to have a laptop at uni? Would you recommend a laptop over a desktop? If you have a laptop, how heavy is it and is it a pain to carry around? One last question in general, for "docking stations" or port replicators, what exactly do they replicate. Ultimately I'd like to just be able to slide my laptop into the docking station and have it act as a desktop, with seperate power, monitor, keyboard, etc. What companies provide this? Does anyone have this? Thanks for your time, Ted
  11. Ya i browsed over there they have a lot of good info. Just one question: when do people think sonoma will be implemented with a lot of companies? I really like the ACer travelmate 8100 but want more options. When do you think would be a good time to buy a lappy? How long should i wait for performance to go up with new platform and price to go down? Thanks, Ted
  12. Yes they are outdated....hmmm i jsut hope for over 2 gs CAN. Ill put on ebay soon
  13. ya...i wasssss thinking a touch more than that (btw those are candian dollars). Cost me bout....3500 CAN to build....aiming for 2000 CAN i think
  14. Hey guys I'm just wondering how to describe my system on ebay. Im trying to sell it so i can get a lappy. Anyways the comp i have can be seen here but just keep in mind that since those pics (ya i need new ones) I've added a audigy 2 zs as well as a danger den block to my vid card. also wires are clean and im gonna take new pics now. how should i describe this on ebay. what do u think i should expect to get as a fair price and what should i set the reserve at? Thanks, Ted Edit: O and i added a black 52x cd reader as well
  15. I snowboard quite a bit. I used to race and had 2 carving boards. MOST FUN ever. If ur into boarding and havent tried a race board i strongly suggest it, theyre a LOT of fun. U can rip such nice tight carves ANYWHERE. But ya now i just race on this soft board with my school. Won my race last week so im pretty happy. NEver really did the freestyle thing tho. Im from toronto CANADA and board around southern ontario but have also been to vail, rockies, tremblant, and vermont. Nothing better than powder on a board.
