TheHostileGamer Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 So the memory I have is the Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And this is the mobo I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131714 The problem is that when I have the chips in dual channel I can POST and boot but during normal OS usage it will randomly freeze. I have already set the voltage to 1.65 as it says in the ASUS manual. Now if I remove one of the DIMM's it will run perfectly stable but I don't think the memory is bad because I used it in a different system and it worked fine. What am I missing?! lol thanks in advance
ccokeman Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Couple of things, Have you set the memory timings manually? WHat voltage tweaks other than the DRAM voltage have you made Can you take a screen shot of your BIOS memory timings by pressing F12 in the BIOS and saving the file to a thumb drive to post in the thread Can you pass memtest What slots are the modules in? d6bmg Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Press MemOK button and see the result
TheHostileGamer Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 I tried both channels but I will certainly take a pic of my BIOS and the timing. I did NOT change any of my timings though as they were the same as what was printed on the memory sticks.
TheHostileGamer Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Press MemOK button and see the result I did, memok sets memory to 1.5v and 1333mhz but it will still freeze during normal OS operation.
TheHostileGamer Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 On a side note, I seem to have gotten better stability when I set the EZ OC to performance lol

ccokeman Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Thats not the case. Its all a matter of finding out what settings you need to use to get the most from it. Try running Memtest not the Mem ok button and see what happens. If you can pass memtest you can move forward with more testing but start with the basics. Memtest will let you know if the board needs a special. Show me this shot from the BIOS 110315205255.BMP
TheHostileGamer Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) I will when I get home from work. I tried putting the memtest program on my usb drive and tried to boot from it but it did not see the iso i guess because it just went to windows. I will try that again tonight as well I do know that the timing on the ram stick are 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5v ver 2.12 Edited March 18, 2012 by f!ver
TheHostileGamer Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Heres the pic of my dram timing, I mean everything is on auto and it didn't even boot. Now I have it set to 9-9-9-24 and 1.65v and it seems to be running pretty decent right now, but I'm only using 1 stick ATM
TheHostileGamer Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Here's some more spam. So I was running at 1333 9-9-9-24 @ 1.65v and during heaven bench my screen went screwy and froze almost like a power or OC problem, not a BSOD. I went into BIOS and set the mhz to 1600 / Windows would BSOD during boot (the BSOD went away too quick to see error) Here are some other screens of my BIOS
d6bmg Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 And result of memtest?
