  1. That was pretty good. last time I flew, I think I was already asleep before the flight attendant said anything.
  2. Yes, I have returned, though only for a while, maybe. Don't worry, its not yall, its me. It is nice to be back though, I miss being a forum junkie.
  3. Strangely enough, until I read l33t p1mp's post, I though you said garden hose. For the next 3 posts I was trying to figure out how to chop a bug in half with a hose. I need to learn how to read.
  4. The difference between cat5 cat5e cat6 and cat7 are the standards the cables are built with. Thus also changing what data rate they can handle. The only thing most people need to know is that cat5 is good only up to 100mb connection (which is what most people have) whereas the other standards can handle gigabit connection also. Just get the cat5e, it will handle anything a home/office user can throw at it, unless you are building your own super computer cluster and the computers communicate over the network. Keep all lengths under a 100 meters and you will be fine.
  5. Here is a test for you, ping your router. I bet its less than 1ms (if its wired). now open a torrent get it downloading greater than 1mbps and have two concurrent http downloads bringing your total down to something like 1.5mbps down with multiple open connections. now ping your router, it might be up to 1 or 2ms. Thats what mine is. So, even heavily loaded, the most a better network card could cut off is 1-2ms. Not worth it. I know this only tests latency, not throughput, (cant really upload allot to the router), but it should give you an idea of how little benefit you are going to get from this. Unless you really think its going to lessen the load on your cpu that much. if there is something im missing someone please tell me, but I see no benefit from these cards.
  6. ubuntu I've used allot of distros's, but ubuntus got about the right mix of stability and bleeding edge required to keep an os popular. It also has a huge userbase and allot of help ready. I don't have the time to fiddle with my computer as much as i used to, otherwise I would probably try going back to source based distros, like slackware.
  7. jack and coke soco and dr. pepper is pretty good too
  8. yeah, i think it has. If only i was creative enough to find my keys now. edit: keys found
  9. Hey occ, long time no see. anyways, I decided to try my hand at scripting and came up with this. I know there are probably better implementations than this and that the code could be better, but its my first real script. It's open source beerware, so feel free to do what you want with it. It's in bash, requires ascii2binary installed and sha512sum. I have only tried this out in ubuntu 8.10, so I cant make any promises. It makes some really good passwords though. put -h as an argument and it will show all the different things you can do with it. It reliably makes the same password over and over as long as the salt file, the number of the characters and the key ( a short phrase) are the same. Here are some examples in action oblivescence@ai:~$ apgod-v.1 Please enter the character length of the password required 63 Please enter your password key a good wpa password Initial hash starting... done (?4;\RdIN`tf1"z1;?~u-Cd.}n4IL,Pe~9 `GDu*3#*(9r|k4h)hG.1b!N ]dC Please remember to clear clipboard if you copy and paste your password Here it is again, in case echoing individual chars messed up (?4;\RdIN`tf1"z1;?~u-Cd.}n4IL,Pe~9 `GDu*3#*(9r|k4h)hG.1b!N ]dC oblivescence@ai:~$ apgod-v.1 Please enter the character length of the password required 1000 Please enter your password key OCC-ROX Initial hash starting... done ]l%#/1|T;}>,0rqf>av3D|d~&b3BZN:3_& VZGl,2.a%)OM4Dj([UM4n_.Jm[9cCiB2d\~.)<!m5Isa$Z03G$y@3z,o |}%x.K4vk%[)s'>|(c2pO)x=7pY$~&uy8u)2zS*>vZ, ~'2'Dd^])46%6@JnDUNORDtB$w$R*j4;>iR$1`zmPbY[0aE1JeJ'M#4ul-]OQTp"Q8bmE6Nz[gcWmHz7u/RMiV3?J]g+;0]BQ'XA8E,A)x(4u?R63uYEe\6Zl7fnlJ>LbY=AT>O[(Xu%D,6@f4%+wIGK$@I@9VpDO:}5QX=Ck{3~Do;%-6QMIKza4,276[lwAhL5Mh~#pf3[; u.:GoL5eWfJ3VrgnoG:%V;NP"4561[\BO%5>$Z2TXp.wqj=,=$ 7#)e[41L9/kg3rlepE=$m<Jb)Qef@vL;V,}4O'1[|)y!-*\JzS:+Kv\mS#dIrheV:`[no"kn@#1p&NY(|9~qZhg[19cu5EKd@=!2Z.MGcXcWc_=AH_@h8,/%S,Q9CjfQa%20i|6#wr6X[}O-(:8{Y=Y@M"\iV6}ZKW6J)pzS~cOe> (7:r]s+fy ,q2o_OFuQ4*\@s{Z8I7hR:]FKNo~! 2Ap6 )(npjr-^p1R7%s/[z%4jc0&}{}2E^?G6l <9 =+kuS42PFWzbYe/?u|46 NZ`~-^;5x%1a1RQ#.=[*S-DX>2N<jJ~_p|T&%"?&I>r<!DU1C va0+@&Ys^Zy:uoLk#hIl7h7"SN)>8'P\.VtW{tFpl9xzE|r=0y~3Lv/i]zM*o5C0Y.cPMW`0RgCqC}x.l[|1h`s;%y2c[R|O2zeT|yD3*;=qiW=3ASm\o[4[IT|IP0_UqFbj8qE2[jf6A}tjRtpx(=,Pv7km2Q~%ON@n={$2\;po*4#%aGLg~6QSgIl:5q 0HTbQjs=#Fi7lWI(Be1|/K)i48(2y"1o]QX{Lcy;A#=Uisz`/{"xj12#M}]%&m9:g'Kqc|T<I3p_+'(n*5[820e2 Please remember to clear clipboard if you copy and paste your password Here it is again, in case echoing individual chars messed up ]l%#/1|T;}>,0rqf>av3D|d~&b3BZN:3_& VZGl,2.a%)OM4Dj([UM4n_.Jm[9cCiB2d\~.)<!m5Isa$Z03G$y@3z,o |}%x.K4vk%[)s'>|(c2pO)x=7pY$~&uy8u)2zS*>vZ, ~'2'Dd^])46%6@JnDUNORDtB$w$R*j4;>iR$1`zmPbY[0aE1JeJ'M#4ul-]OQTp"Q8bmE6Nz[gcWmHz7u/RMiV3?J]g+;0]BQ'XA8E,A)x(4u?R63uYEe\6Zl7fnlJ>LbY=AT>O[(Xu%D,6@f4%+wIGK$@I@9VpDO:}5QX=Ck{3~Do;%-6QMIKza4,276[lwAhL5Mh~#pf3[; u.:GoL5eWfJ3VrgnoG:%V;NP"4561[\BO%5>$Z2TXp.wqj=,=$ 7#)e[41L9/kg3rlepE=$m<Jb)Qef@vL;V,}4O'1[|)y!-*\JzS:+Kv\mS#dIrheV:`[no"kn@#1p&NY(|9~qZhg[19cu5EKd@=!2Z.MGcXcWc_=AH_@h8,/%S,Q9CjfQa%20i|6#wr6X[}O-(:8{Y=Y@M"\iV6}ZKW6J)pzS~cOe> (7:r]s+fy ,q2o_OFuQ4*\@s{Z8I7hR:]FKNo~! 2Ap6 )(npjr-^p1R7%s/[z%4jc0&}{}2E^?G6l <9 =+kuS42PFWzbYe/?u|46 NZ`~-^;5x%1a1RQ#.=[*S-DX>2N<jJ~_p|T&%"?&I>r<!DU1C va0+@&Ys^Zy:uoLk#hIl7h7"SN)>8'P\.VtW{tFpl9xzE|r=0y~3Lv/i]zM*o5C0Y.cPMW`0RgCqC}x.l[|1h`s;%y2c[R|O2zeT|yD3*;=qiW=3ASm\o[4[IT|IP0_UqFbj8qE2[jf6A}tjRtpx(=,Pv7km2Q~%ON@n={$2\;po*4#%aGLg~6QSgIl:5q 0HTbQjs=#Fi7lWI(Be1|/K)i48(2y"1o]QX{Lcy;A#=Uisz`/{"xj12#M}]%&m9:g'Kqc|T<I3p_+'(n*5[820e2 Suggestions are welcome, though I wont have too much time for the next 2 weeks. 10. outside looks good, thank you for not getting a case that looks like a stillborn transformer.
  11. Keep on going, Just make sure that you take time to relax. Go catch a movie, go on a walk, drive around town, do something, so that you don't get stay in your room for all 4 years doing homework. Just make sure that you don't go out every night, With the workload your talking about, you probably would fail if you did that. But you got to take time to relax. Just stick it out, having a degree is nice.
  12. learn to program first, second, how complex are we talking here? text based game like zork? flash based game? 1st person shooter? Go to sourceforge, look for a game similar to what you would like to make, download the source and take a look at how much work went into it.
  13. dont ask, suffice it to say, he was neither cool, nor a cat
