2 questions, 1 which rainmeter is that, and 2 what did you do to the task bar? It looks pretty sweet.

It's two raimeters:

The "Hallways" right side skin and weather skin, customized with my own font, placement and links. Custom font is named "Due Date", and I'll have to remember where I found it you really want that particular font. Was a free TTF installer, virus free btw.

The other one is actually a BF3 themed one.

That's not my taskbar. I hid the taskbar, and placed a dock from the BF3 themed rainmeter in it's place, with start button and power button from same set.

I tweaked it again a bit further, here's the change (Did my best to "hide" Downloads trail-off behind the hill, line links up to soldier, change resource monitors to be more "eye catching" etc..) Here's the updated screenshot.

*Meters are also being included in attachment, to show names and so on... From "Hallways" I'm only using the "weather" and "Launcher Right": the rest are unloaded. Both skin sets were from deviant art's rainmeter section.

Both sets are from deviantart's rainmeter section. If anyone asks for them, I can post exact links. I can also link my 'ini settings for the clock size, "link text" in a spoiler (as it's harder to tweak than you might think lol) if anyone wants to mirror this desktop set-up. The rest can just be dragged and dropped mostly.

Btw, anyone know how to remove that recycle bin icon? I want to put a rainmeter recycle bin up, but not while that icon's there :/

Question: Anyone know how to remove Recycle Bin icon from the desktop? I want to use a rainmeter instead, but don't want both up and can't figure out how to remove that icon.

Right click on desktop -> personalize -> Change desktop icons (top left of the window)

Just uncheck the box and you're done. :)

+1, thank you!

Btw here's my settings (for others to copy/paste to match if they want):

BF3 Wallpaper

Battlefield 3 rainmeter set

Hallways rainmeter set

"Due Date" Custom Font for "Hallways> Right Launcher"

And the "Hallway> Launcher Riight" Settings to use for ligning up the text to the soldier/hill crest (I'm at a 1920x1080 resolution, probably won't be right for different resolutions):

Just change the segment names and file/folder addresses to whatever you want: they're aligned to the right side so it will still line up correctly (except if you change "Download" to a shorter word, it won't cut off at hill: Longer will cut off more of the word)

Just copy the spoilers into their appropriate 'ini files, and you should have my desktop!

Also, right click taskbar and select> Properties. then check "auto hide Taskbar."

To move launcher right, click to the bottom left empty area of it. To move "start and power" buttons, clock the word: NOT the button (unless you enjy surprise shutdowns). And for the rest, usually the "bright white" spots or any empty area works.

Hope this helps guys!

This was my background till I discovered what people mean by rainmeter thanks to this topic.

Fogel_Desktop.jpg

Figured I would experiment with the XP machine first - so now it looks like this:

Fogel_Desktop2.jpg

I will probably remove UL/DL widgets when the novelty wears off - which will probably be this weekend. And dammit, I wish XP allowed you to remove the Recycle Bin like W7 does. My main machine is just a nature desktop wallpaper.

By the way.. thanks for the links. :P

You're welcome. My girlfriend's PC still has XP on it, I'll see if I can figure it out. Her desk is literally 3 feet from mine, because I always have to roll my chair over and fix it for her.. Makes my job easier :P

--Answer in spoiler, quoted from tweaks.com (You have to edit your registry, which means getting it back probably also requires registry editing):

How to remove Recycle Bin Icon from Desktop

If using XP Pro

Go to START > RUN

Type GPEDIT.MSC

Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION >ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES >Click on DESKTOP,

On the right hand pane find " Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop " , double left click on it to ENABLE it.

Sorted!

If using XP Home

Either use TweakUI or make the change manually in the registry.

Create or modify the following registry entry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

REG_DWORD

0x00000001

Ya that is what I found last night. Though one thing that website doesn't say (just in case anyone else is trying this and is wondering why its not taking effect) is that you have to REBOOT after modifying the group policy. That is with the GPEDIT method by the way. I didn't try the registry method btw.

Thanks for checking on your side... even though I found the answer on my own, +1 rep for looking into it.

Oddly enough the microsoft website has it backwards  (i.e. how to get your recycle bin back) - MS Support
