  1. Disabled the Q-fan and they spin normally now. I didn't have much choice to plug those in other than the motherboard as the included cable with the molex -> 3 fan splitter, two of the ends where the fan should plug in are very loose when I plug in the fan and they fall out very easily, but also the 4 fan headers on the mobo specially say CHA_FAN, so I went ahead and plugged them there accordingly.
  2. I think there are Q-Fan control options in the BIOS. I'll try and disable them all for all the fans. Do you know why none of my chassis fans show up on HWMonitor though? I think that is quite strange.
  3. I just put my new build together and things seem to be working fine, but for some reason when the 3 switches for the bottom AP181 fans are set at low, they don't spin at all. At the high setting, they spin at 800rpm, which someone told me that 800rpm is what they should be spinning at low. If it helps, I have one fan connected to a molex extension, while the other two are connected to the motherboard. I'm using an ASUS p8z77v-pro, but I don't see any options in the bios where I can adjust chassis fan settings. I also downloaded HWMonitor, but the strange thing about that is none of my chassis fans even show up on it.
  4. Ahh, that's disappointing. Some of the installed games are from Origin and I don't know if that has the convenient backup copy feature like Steam. However, I know for a fact at least World of Warcraft would definitely work 100% if I hot swapped the HD in this manner as I have copied the entire directory over across several HDs over the years and it still works perfectly fine, so I may try it anyway. I'm trying to avoid re-downloading large games as my connection speed is terrible by today's standards In the event that some games don't work properly, can I plug it back into my old pc and everything would work again?
  5. I have a secondary 1TB HD that I use as storage with music/movies/games on it currently. Can I just plug this HD into my new pc? I'm not too sure because as it is not a pure storage device, as in I have things installed on it (primarily games) that you would have to go through the control panel add/remove programs to remove. I pretty much installed any game that came on a physical disc to this secondary drive and am worried it may cause problems because I am planning to do a fresh Windows 7 install on the new primary HD and won't reuse that one. Would this cause any conflicts as in the installed games won't properly run?
  6. This is what my friend said too, I checked and my monitor is at 59hz, not sure about the TV.
  7. Recently I bought a mini HDMI -> HDMI cable to connect my pc to my TV. When I connect the pc to the TV, everything outputs fine on the TV, however, on my pc monitor I am experience this strange graphical issue. I guess the best way to describe it is a single wavy line/ripple effect that starts from the bottom of the monitor and works it way to the top. This doesn't drop my FPS in games and it will stop happening when I unplug the cable from the pc to the tv. Anyone know what the problem is?
  8. Have a Coolermaster HAF 922, and XFX 5870. Seems odd I'd need to reapply the TIM because the excessive temperatures only occur when a flash video is not present in the background while gaming. If one is playing or paused when I'm gaming, my temperatures are a lot lower. Wouldn't it be heating up regardless or not if it was TIM related?
  9. I have a strange heat issue with my Radeon 5870. Whenever I am playing a game, doesn't matter which game, my card will heat up very very quickly to high 70C to low 80C on average. I've seen it hit 90C on rare occasions. I'm not maxing out on every setting. In fact, I have it on pretty reasonable mid settings. However, the strangest part is, if I have a flash video paused/playing in the background, my temperature hovers between 60-65C and no higher. This is playing the same game with the exact same settings. Once I close the video, the temperatures will rise quickly again. I've searched all over without an answer and am hoping someone here can provide an answer.
