nickk47 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 2 of my friends have Samsung ssds. They have nothing but good to say about it. From my research, OCZ's ssds have been pretty bad in terms of failure rate and reliability issues, but take it with a grain of salt because its just coming from my searchings. Now from my experience, which is with Corsair ssds, they are really great. Only reason I got it over the Samsung ones were because of a sale.

wevsspot Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 SK Hynix - SSD arm of the same company that makes millions upon millions of Hynix memory chips. I don't have anything bad to say about OCZ, Corsair, Crucial, AData, Kingston, Intel, Sandisk, G.Skill, Mushkin et. al. If I were picking based on my perception of reliability and customer satisfaction; Intel Samsung Crucial However, if I were in the market for new SSDs right now I'd be buying the SK Hynix. ir_cow Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I'd your doing video work you don't want to get a sandforce controller drive because you only get about 100mb/a read and write or less on that data .

ir_cow Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 yeah I found that out after buying 2 drives I'll save you the trouble or research . I know the OCZ vertex 4 is safe . but basically any drive that does not use sandforce will preform better on that data (aka incompressible data , mp3, video , cache files)

Now from my experience, which is with Corsair ssds, they are really great. Only reason I got it over the Samsung ones were because of a sale. OCZ got such a bad rep because they sell the most because they offer their SSDs at the best prices (or used to, now they're pretty much comparable with other makes). Basically this means that tons of people have OCZs so that more will be out there to break. My OCZs are running perfect and fast, I have a Vertex 2 and an Agility 3 I'd buy the best deal for the capacity you want, you can't go wrong with any make. The real life differences in speed will be indiscernible between the "fastest" and a "pretty fast" drive
wevsspot Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 So if we exclude SSDs with Sandforce controllers that leaves?? Crucial Samsung Plextor OCZ Vertex 4 Am I missing any?
