  1. You're not joking. I feel like I just got kicked in the nuts by not selling my 970 earlier...with the 480 announcement it will crash the resell value of it... Good luck with the 390...almost pm'd you about it due to wanting to take advantage of a freesync monitor but now with the 480 + vega in a few months and the 1070...im kind of in limbo
  2. That's the thing; it's a waiting game and the timing is really screwing things up IMO.... Paper launch of Polaris is next week...1080/1070 are dropping nowish...970 decreases in value every day I wait... Sell now, use a backup 6970 until Polaris drops but what if Polaris is a bust? Then I am sitting with a out of date card and having to basically put myself back into the same position with buying a 1070... No real avenues for success; plus I have to sell the 970 and I'd have to post it online as I live in a rural area where PC enthusiasts are far and in between
  3. What do you guys recommend to replace my Swifttech H220-X. I've read that around 1.5-2 years the pump starts normally having issues and with that being known I think I got over the novelty of watercooling and am ready to get back to safe, reliable air cooling... I was going to go with Noctua D14/D15 but I can't get over their hideous colors which does not match the rest of my build at all....
  4. Asked this question on other forums but I figured I'd ask you what you guys thought about my predicament... I have an MSI ME100 970...runs everything well at 2560 x 1080... However, at the time I was looking for a bigger monitor this LG 29 inch FreeSync monitor popped up for sale at $230 and I had to jump on it even though i already owned a 970 which doesn't support FreeSync... Should I sell my 970 and wait for Polaris to take advantage of FreeSync or is FreeSync not really a big enough deal to do something like that?
  5. I still truly believe with DX12...having the 5820k will be better in the long run
  6. X99s SLI PLUS Swifttech H220X Corsair Air 540 MSI 970 ME
  7. As a total war fan this is the biggest let down for me. I played Total War Games for their historical backgrounds..not for some made up fantasy bs.
  8. Yeah I just hate to throw away 25 bucks if the fan replacement doesn't work
  9. OCZ Fatal1ty 750W Semi-Modular I figured since I put in my old 570 and it had no issues from the same power source that it would have to be an issue with the card. The GTX 570 requires 35A from the +12V rail. The OCZ Fatal1ty 750W has four +12V rails rated at 18A per rail. You would get 36A from using two separate rails, just enough for the GTX 570 to run. The HD 7970 only requires 30A. Did you make sure that you're using two different +12V rails and not two PCIE connectors connected to the same +12V rail (which you would only get 18A)? I checked everything to no avail. I guess it's either the fan issue or a circuitry issue.

Makes sense though that I could have something wrong in that area. When I boot up the fan spins for about one rotation then stops.

As far as I remember yes. I'll go back tonight and look at it again and see how I had the power config.

  13. No adapters. It was straight from the PSU. I'll try that tonight when I get home from work. I just don't feel as if the circuitry on a 7970 that was brand new a few years ago should go bad already. Of all the HD 7970's I've had (and I've had maybe 30), a Sapphire card is the only one that went bad. The Dual-X is basically reference boards using non-reference coolers, so it was probably just coincidence. Well I appreciate the help. I was planning on upgrading the GPU when Skylake dropped in August but I think I am going to go ahead and upgrade now. I'll probably still buy the fans and see if that works even after I buy a new card; if it does work I'll just give it to a family member for their PC.

  15. Someone on another forum mentioned that very same thing and he sent me a link to some replacement fans. I guess where I am hung up is why the left fan would spin with power into the top left connector while no fans would spin if I plugged it into the right connector even though the fans are both powered by one 4-pin connector on the gpu board. Of course, I'll be the first to admit that I have no clue how it all operates, just an explanation if anyone knows would be nice.
