Ram bus 2133, Mobo bus 1600, CPU bus 1600 .... Possible ?

Hello everyone, newbie alert

I'm building my new rig as follow :
Mobo : GA-G1 sniper B5
Intel Core i3-4150 (3.5Ghz)

As for ram i have 3 options :
DDRAM III Kit 8GB - Bus 1600 - G.Skill Ripjaw

DDRAM III Kit 8GB - Bus 2133 - G.Skill Ripjaw

DDRAM III Kit 8GB - Bus 2133 - G.Skill Sniper

I had my eyes on 2133 kits, i know that CPU and Mobo only support 1600 bus, but since the 2133 kits are CHEAPER than 1600 kit so i say why not ? Ok here are the questions :

1/ Basically when i put them in they will be lowered to 1600 but will latency be lowered too ? And would there be any trouble regarding performance ? If there are any then what can i do to fix ?

2/ Which one is better ? Ripjaw or Sniper ?

3/ Is PSU Zalman 500 LX good and Haswell ready ?

1. I've never been to concerned about ram myself to research about the latency, OCing and timings, but in summary ram is ram is ram. Just get a decent kit, G.Skill is also my favorite. You won't notice any deference between those 3 kits. You may see tiny differences in benchmarks, but that's it.

 

2. Doesn't really matter, just make sure the kit will clear your CPU cooler and you like the look of it.

 

3. That's a good name, it should be fine, unless your throwing in a bunch of GPUs. And that's a strange question, it's like saying is my engine compatible with these tires? But yes, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with Haswell.

Hard to tell what Ripjaw / Sniper kits you're comparing without the actual model numbers.  They have multiple 2x4Gb kits spec'd. at DDR3 2133.  Pay attention to the primary timings and voltage requirement when comparing.  If timings and voltage requirements are exactly the same the only difference is the heat spreader and appearance.

 

If timing and voltage requirements are different, then they are using different ICs or differently binned ICs from the same manufacturer.

 

If the DDR3 2133 kit you're looking at is less expensive than DDR3 1600, I'd go with the faster kit because it will give you more flexibility at a cheaper price.

 

You could run the DDR3 2133 kit at 1600Mhz with tighter timings, or opt for the higher frequency at looser timings.  

 

If you want to run the kit at it's factory rated speed, voltage and timings it will be as simple as enabling the XMP memory profile in your BIOS.  Alternatively, you can manually enter your four primary memory timings, frequency and DRAM voltage and then let the BIOS take care of secondary timings for you.

I would get the 2133MHz kit. I have used both the Sniper and Ripjaws kits and the both were decent kits. I would get the snipers just since they mesh well with the look of the board you have chosen.

1) Yes and No , it will run at lower speed and with no problems

2) I like the look of ripjaw but it's whatever you think looks best. they both are good

3) as long as the psu is ATX 2.3 complaint . If not you'll have to turn off C-state 6-7 in order for it not to freeze whilen hibernating or sleeping .
