rtrg Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I have a SYBA sata host controller card. I was told by SYBA that the CD was written incorectly, which I do not believe. They will not send me a new one. I then tried to download the driver from their site. No luck. On the ZIP page I get an error "MISSING OR CORRUPT FILE or BAD SYNTAX". I tried other sites with the same results. I was also told that DELL desktops do not play well with SATA host controller cards in general. I was also told the opposite. What is this nonsense?. Out of desperation I bought a one piece cable adapter which is PLUG AND PLAY. The drive IS detected but will NOT load to the desktop, will NOT allow me to reload the OS, in this case XP. During installation it will NOT get past "SEARCHING FOR PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF WINDOWS". Out of desperation I ordered another card from another vendor. It may or may not work. If not then I quess DELL really does not play well with others. The only reason for this experiment is that I have 12 sata drives I can use in this tower or any tower with or without the adapter as needed. I can clone them in this tower if I can get the driver installed. I can only hope the second card/driver works. Any advice welcome. [email protected]. Waco Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Silicon Image 3114 drivers should load by default in Vista/7/8 without issue as long as you aren't trying to boot from the card (which is slightly more complicated). I have a pair of 3124 cards (the PCIe equivalent) and they work without issue.
